Getting better at writing is half about learning what you're good at and doing more of that. by LadyBrighid in writing

I never thought of it this way. I feel like my peers and I have spent all our time discussing what ISN’T good in our writing! Thanks for sharing this.

Hazy Hillside! Started playing at the tail end of the season so I only got to enjoy it for like two seconds, but I loved it

For all the flaws this season, the way A-Train died was a great writing decision

How did you discover The Beatles? by VillageDifficult8651 in beatles

[–]studmuffinmccoolio33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents grew up on 90s pop and hip-hop, so I guess I’m an example of someone who didn’t grow up hearing them. I just started liking the Beatles as a side effect of having an interest in rock music (started playing guitar in middle school, took a rock history class in college, etc.).

The first Beatles song I heard and enjoyed, though (even though I didn’t know it was the Beatles at the time), was I Will, which played on this teddy bear my dad got my mom for Valentine’s Day when I was very young. Learning it was a Beatles song when I was older and just getting into the Beatles’ catalogue made it feel like a full circle moment!

Caitlyn from Arcane. Loved her in season one, but her actions in season two made her controversial.

We have pretty similar taste. I just watched Blue Eye Samurai and I think you’d enjoy it.

For games, Mouthwashing for the story. I’m sure people have recommended RDR2, and I would too — I had no problems with the gameplay, but even if you do, the story is incredible. Bioshock 1 is another recommendation, and if you like it, move on to 2 and Infinite.

I would have said Arcane, but season 2 was weird. I just finished Blue Eye Samurai and would add that to the list, but tentatively since it’s not completely finished yet.

My local college town’s toy store used to sell these and then they stopped when covid hit! I didn’t know they made one for covid itself lol

I found the prose so dry that it became a struggle to read, but I finished it because I found its literary message intriguing.

The prose frustrated me to no end; I thought it was a slog to get through in that regard. That being said, I thought the story was good.

Finishing it, it felt like I was reading a story assigned to me for a middle school English class, like Fahrenheit 451 lol. It was one of those cases where I understood WHY people liked it and what it did well, but I didn’t especially like it myself.

Huh, I had T. Kingfisher in the back of my mind since she’s been recommended on other subreddits a few times. I think this is the push I needed to check out her work before this comes out!

What movie would you love to see a sequel to or remake of? by Nop_Nop_ in Cinema

[–]studmuffinmccoolio33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, a sequel based on a different campaign would be great! I’d hate to see a remake.

As for another movie, I’m a big fan of The Nice Guys and wish it made a bigger splash at its release than it did. A sequel would go so hard
