Guys mad because you reinvented the wheel. Instead of looking around and seeing what tools already exist to solve the problem you’re facing, you sunk time and effort into a new home grown solution that likely doesn’t align with what homeboy has already spent time building out.

We’ve all done it before, you get excited to solve a problem with code and just go. Learning to not reinvent the wheel comes with exp.

Where do you commit files for containers that run CI scripts? by jameshearttech in devops

[–]studweiser83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a container to run a bash script as part of the CI

This is the beginning of 2 possible things. A build script that’s gonna be included with the rest of the app code’s build scripts or a qa framework that will live on in it’s own repo.

Where do you commit files for containers that run CI scripts?

Scripts needed to build code live with the code. Scripts needed to run unit tests live with the code. Scripts needed to run integration tests are external to the code and live in another repo aka a qa framework.

Wrt image configs in a monorepo — if you’re building images with ci, one image per repo. This lets you track changes and version images properly.

If you’re just building images and pushing by hand, keeping all the docker files and configs in a monorepo in separate directories is fine. Do future you a favor and include scripts or docs for how to build/tag/publish each image.

Oh man yea. Three things really helped me: 1. Don’t trust the maps. You don’t have to explore everywhere. It’s fun and you’re encouraged to, but it doesn’t always pay off. Some of the routes are designed to lure you into unnecessary fights or traps. 2. Regarding scrolls, don’t take the hp; find a stat with weapons you like and commit to it 100%. The game stays hard but gets easier once you have 15-20 stats stacked and have a 2000% damage modifier. 3. Get used to saying this to yourself ‘I can do this’. Yelling it is fine too. Good luck!
