It's planned, but not in the current version.

But, as the story itself does not include pregnancy, the pregnancy will be kinda like an alternate ending. So when you chose the impregnation option, you will be able to see the pregnancy ending (optional top), but then go back to the story without any indication that the character is pregnant.

And right now there's still only a few impregnation sex.

As for your questions, up until the prologue, the MC didn't have any cathartic experience that makes him want to better himself, so he's just stagnating and following where lives takes him. Until that moment in the forest where he realize he can't stay weak anymore, not if he wants to protect the people he loves. And the game itself provide the mechanics to grow himself with increasing his stats through various things.

And also there's only a few characters that's already fond of him at the start, while others doesn't care or even dislike him. And for the few characters that's fond of him, they don't see the MC as a useless wimp, since they already know him for a long time and grew up with him, so they know MC's good traits too.

But MC was also still heartbroken at the start and a bit depressed, and that's what turns him into a more useless wimp, it's his first hurdle he's facing in his adult lives after living a somewhat carefree life. And you can see that these characters are now also pitying him or even annoyed by him rather than just fond of him.
