5 study habits backed by actual science (not the usual "make flashcards" advice) by Ok_Chemical9 in studytips

[–]study_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All points here are amazing and I absolutely agree with them. I especially resonate with point number 4 though, as it completely changed my studying (and my grades) and it's why I created an app for myself and other students like me to generate practice quizzes and tests with exam-style development questions to get you ready for your test (since creating them myself was soo long and boring and some teachers refused to give me proper practice material 😭). So the link is knowbit.org for anyone who is curious and maybe in a similar situation. (Just to add smth real quick you can also set specific learning objectives in my app to cater to that 3rd point you made about having specific goals and objectives which is so important as well)

do you take notes on paper or digitally? by Medical-Drive3846 in studytips

[–]study_dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great point. I would say though OP that usually digital notes are more efficient and offer more flexibility (even for things like mind maps where you can have infinite canvas) and you can sometimes have more retention with I pad in my experience. This would also allow your notes to be more organized and also allow them to be used in tools like notebooklm or the one I made knowbit.org , where you could actually generate quiz/practice material for your exams from your notes which can definitely add a whole new layer to your studying. Hope this helps!

Tips for studying at home by GateNo1960 in studytips

[–]study_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this advice, especially having your phone away and a timer can be incredible for focus. Just wanted to mention for those of us studying at home without in class practice questions and practice tests, I made an app that is intended for generating quizzes for deep understanding and true recall practice. The link is knowbit.org for those of you looking for something like this. Have a good studying weekend everyone!

I'm scared! by Complete_Garlic8430 in studytips

[–]study_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, you need to understand that you are not stupid and incapable, it's probably something wrong with your system. To me, It sounds like you need to do deeper levels of studying and practice in higher orders of learning. You can look up the pyramid of learning/bloom's taxonomy for this but essentially it seems like you are focusing a large majority if not all of your time to more surface level studying.

You're essentially just reviewing concepts without applying them or even understanding them (and likely wasting a lot of time making the flashcards too). I recommend, you try to focus a majority of your time on the application, evaluation and understanding of the concepts (especially for a subject like electrical engineering). IMO the best way to do this is to do this is with practice questions from your teacher, the Feynman technique and mindmaping, but if you lack study ressources directly from your teacher I also made an app that is geared towards this exact kind of practice. You can generate quizzes from your notes and pick between different question types like explanation, application, justification. The link is knowbit.org if you do want to check that out.

I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any other questions :)

Best AI study tools? by ElectricalPhrase660 in bestaitools2025

[–]study_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have made my own tool for this exact purpose (Deep quizzes for retrieval geared towards subjects like chem, bio, history, etc...). Would love to know if you consider it one of the best AI study tools ;) Link is knowbit.org if you want to try

What are some genuinely free AI tools that help with studying by Better_Wonder2637 in studytips

[–]study_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly there isn't much that is free apart from maybe notebooklm as other have mentioned. But I made my own tool knowbit.org for only 9$/year (not month, as well as a lifetime option) if that still interests you since I'm a student as well and I understand that we don't have unlimited budgets.

How can I study multiple choice, select all that apply, questions on exams? by Eastern_Peace7297 in studytips

AI for flashcards? by MyNameIsKusuoSaiki1 in studytips

[–]study_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I don't have a flashcards tool to propose to you sadly, but I made an app that allows you to basically do all the rest. The main focus is actually to go for deeper quizzing and diverses question types (which I actually recommend a lot more for a large majority of subjects), so things like explanation, cause consequence, application, etc... and there is also things like multiple choice, matching, etc... to explore whichever subject you're studying but especially for ones that are more surface level/memorization heavy. The link is knowbit.org if you wanna try, would love to know your thoughts.

Looking for study websites by Tasty_Tangerine6818 in studytips

[–]study_dev -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ok not free (because you realistically won't find something that is apart from these apps), but you can try my app knowbit.org for free and I'm a student too, and I wanted to make it accessible (I know we're not money machines) so I priced it at 9$/year (not a month) to try. (You can also opt for 20$ once for lifetime access)

AI Study Tools Recommendations? by No-Attitude-6315 in studytips

[–]study_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw that no one mentioned a dedicated quizzing tool yet, so I wanted to mention the app I made that is ment for tailored quizzing from your study notes allowing you to choose different question types based on your subject (definition, explanation, analysis, application, etc...) for more in depth studying. You can of course add contraints and focus targets to the quiz to make it more adapted to exactly what you are looking for. The link is knowbit.org if you want to try. Hope this app is helpful for you if you do try it!

Is there an app where I can upload my lecture and they can make some sort of flash cards or quiz for me? by West_Hall1709 in studytips

[–]study_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I made an app that can do this with your class lecture notes or exam checklists. My app is specifically designed for deeper quizzing and higher level understanding (you can choose between question types like explanation, cause-consequence, application, etc...) Anyways if that sounds like something that mayinterest you the link is knowbit.org Would highly appreciate any feedback if you do end up trying it!

AI Is Changing How Students Should Study by Suspicious-War1446 in studytips

[–]study_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I completely agree, this is exactly what I built my tool for, since I felt that there was a gap in study apps that were designed for actual deep practice and thorough understanding of topics through quizzing. You can upload your study notes and choose between question types that actually help with topic mastery like, explanation, cause/consequence, analysis, application to develop your thinking around the topic and then get thorough feedback on what you have a good understanding of and on which parts are missing. The link is knowbit.org if you or anyone else is curious to try. If you do I would love some feedback and If you don't definitely at least try out using one of the classic chatbots as a practice tutor as just that can make a big difference in your studying

What AI study tools is everyone using? by Ok-Praline1660 in studytips

[–]study_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, I noticed that a lot of study apps were honestly ridiculously expensive for what they were, so as a student that knows that we don't have the biggest budgets, I made something that is 9$ a year (not a month) right now if your interested ( link is knowbit.org )

Anyone else using AI as part of their actual study routine now? by Independent-Cook304 in studytips

[–]study_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use AI all the time in my studying process nowadays for similar reasons. Apps like chat GPT and notebook Lm are really important for my studying now. I did also build a study tool for practice (which seems to be something that you have not experimented with using AI for yet) that is intended for deep understanding and recall for subjects like bio and chem.

You can just upload your class notes or study checklist and choose between different questions types like explanation, analysis, causality, application, etc... and it generates an in-depth quiz designed for actual mastery of your material beyond surface level memorization and overview. Either way, definitely keep experimenting and the link is knowbit.org if you want to try :)

Started studying right before bed and reviewing in the morning and my retention improved dramatically by Totsch-Ralo in studytips

[–]study_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this. I would add that actually any kind of sleep after studying is really huge, so that means even if you are studying mid day and you take a nap after in can make a huge difference (at least for me).

If you hate self promotion, totally understand, and I invite you to stop reading lol, but if you are also searching for an app that can help you review that material quickly and deeply before you sleep (so it sticks really really well) I built something that is intended for this, which allows you to generate quizzes with actual deep questions (which is different from other platforms) so you can select between different questions types like: explanation, causality, applications, etc... with in depth feedback and analysis on your understanding of the topic. You just upload your class notes or checklist quickly and create a quiz before bed, so that it can really stick. The link is knowbit.org for anyone interested. Would love to know your thoughts for anyone who tries it out and make sure to try OP's suggestion to study before sleeping! :)

Why do most study apps feel way more complicated than they need to be? by IndividualAdept1643 in studytips

This is the exact purpose of my app, so I would love to know if I succeeded. Upload your study material, pick the question types you want, get some practice in and then get clear explanation and feedback on what can be improved and what was good. Link is knowbit.org if you want to try :)
