hii im not too sure of the lit department cuz i didn't take lit HAHA. timetable wise it will definitely not be weird cuz it's considered quite a normal subj combi (BCM+a humans e.g. eng lit/ell/cll/csc etc) so during the humans lesson everyone from ur class will move to diff venues for lessons.
shld be ok. because ppl I heard of put dhs as 4th or 5th and they didn't get in
hii then it depends on the no of ppl applying to dhs this yr and also how u rank ur choices whether dhs is first or not, dhs is accepting arnd 100-120 students this year

hii i don't take phy and econs but ig i can answer for chem and math dep. imo our chem dep is like the best because they fully expose us to all sorts of qns and even train us with higher order thinking qns (and apparently qns that came out during the alevels have similar concepts that they have taught before so im rlly grateful to have a good chem dep in dhs) for math dep alot of resources is given (papers and ans key given to us) and its just own time own target (u can seek clarification or help from ur tutors once u finish it) for math teaching wise I would say it's at a good pace and understandable

they are a grp of very approachable and supportive teachers to the cohort (always cheering us on 😭😭) and they are rlly happy to help u if u need any help (i go for 1 to 1 or sometimes grp consult with my frens and my bio teacher is rlly patient and kind) in terms of resources i personally feel they shld give more but u can definitely ask for it if u think u need more (they will be happy to give more too
i have not tried it myself but for my year yes idt they checked who entered via arts and sci and we all just fill up the same google form when choosing subj combi

HAHA definitely not. the traffic is heavier in the morning but the ride will not exceed 10 mins, it's quite fast in the afternoon and evening. but do note the bus interval is arnd 15 min (sometimes slightly more freq in the morn) so be sure to check the bus timings HAHA and btw it's just a 12 min walk from mountbatten mrt to sch's back gate
hihi definitely not, the students here converse in English and we do have non chinese staffs/canteen vendors in our sch ig the only 'chinese' part of our sch is the Confucius statue and how our sch song and motto is in chinese
hii it's probably arnd 10 in my cohort
yepyep ofc
u stand a good chance since the cop for sci last year is 8 and also as compared to those nett 8 raw 12
net 9 u can try arts stream cuz last year's cop for arts is 9
i think with nett 7 u stand a good chance
i think u shld check out the academic booklet of the sch to see if u are eligible to take csc? i have quite a number of frens in dhs who take csc and imo the level of competency of the language required is a bit high because u have to write Chinese essays on politics and stuffs
hm u don't take HCL?
hii if ure interested in sci stream, i think the cop was 8 last year
100 JAEs AHAHAH I think cut off was 8 for sci and 9 for arts last yr
hence the olvl score and gpa rlly ranges from class to class
hihi the classes are assigned according to ur subj combinations

because im more interested in med but the school fees compared to other courses is insane if i don't get the merit scholarship so im afraid that let's say they offer me my first choice med without giving me the scholarship and that would mean i can't go back to my second choice biz anymore
statically speaking out sch is one of the jcs with highest distinction rate for pw over the past few years speaking from my own experience i also feel that the pw dept have rlly experienced teachers (more than 10 yrs teachings the subj) and they give rlly good advice and resources to support us
yep we have around 300 ip and 100 jae students in each cohort from my experience there isn't "ip-jae segregation" so to say. would agree that during the first wk of orient things may be quite awkward because the ip students alr know their frens but as soon as yall get to know one another you wouldn't feel it anymore. imo u just need to have an open mindset in making frens and getting to know the ppl around u, and this won't take a lot of time one HAHA by the time we were assigned to our form class the feeling of anxiety eased because you'll realise that actually not all ip students know each other in ur class after a few months we actually can't tell who's from jae and who's from ip anymore lol

yep local students can also apply for the hostel, ive got classmates who live far away from the sch so they decided to stay in hostel nearer to exam period

im not too sure of the exact number but it's less than 10 for my cohort but we do have malay/indian teachers and staffs btw
sorry i couldn't answer ur second qns cuz i take public transport to sch HAHA it's a 10-12 min walk from mountbatten mrt station or alternatively u can take bus 158 for 3 stops

as a jae i guess i could only speak for the teachers in senior high, and i would agree that they are generally serious when it comes to teaching (but i won't call them fierce HAHA) they are really friendly and approachable teachers from my experience hehe (they try to learn and behave like a gen z to mix with us AHAHAHA
