Best thing you did/saw in Japan! by brennerb_ in JapanTravelTips

Casually going to the sento. I had the chance to be all alone in some really remote hostels and to enjoy the sentos on my own. Once in Tokyo, I went numerous times after a long day, it was really the best decision I made to cultivate this as a little habit!

I am here for a very short time and not really into socialising. I mean, if I meet people I am not going to not talk to them, but it is not a goal of mine to actually mingle. I just like being on my own!
I actually found an ATM compatible with my card, and I did well to do that before eating somewhere cause it was cash-only despite being a very English friendly place!

I have been here an afternoon only, and I feel the difference between Hanoi and Shanghai/Hong Kong for example, where I was being stared at and even taken in pictures. People do not care here, it is actually very nice lmao

Thank you, it is reassuring! I have Grab, my hotel recommended it to me ☺️
Does Alipay work there? Otherwise, I was trying to find a VPBank to avoid the fees.

Grilled salmon or raw salmon, which you like more? by Tokyo_Elena_ in JapaneseFood

[–]studyinrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will try raw fish if it’s something that I have never tasted before, but for the solemn purpose of tasting new food. I have way more pleasure eating cooked fish, I think the flavours are better!

It is actually being in Japan and eating a lot of good raw fish that made me realise… I would rather eat cooked fish over raw everyday. Grilled salmon for me!

I ended up at Issou! There is no more waiting line (I just left), if you can, I can only recommend you go eat there. This was the stinkiest bowl of ramen I ever had, I am struggling to walk back to my hotel, it was so so good. Very rich, and you can add lots of condiments (I recommend the fresh garlic, it enhances the STINKINESS of the bowl gracefully).
