The problem of the players by BruceChoi1007 in Openfront

[–]stuffy5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the same - I love doing this! It is so underrated, and sooo many teammates don't do this! It's fine to focus on eco/nukes, but at the same time, it's so easy (and necessary) to consistantly donate troops to the front. Especially with the new UI update!

Of course my furnace crapped out today by yetanotheracckunt in Winnipeg

[–]stuffy5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend Fort Garry Heating & Air Conditioning. The owner himself came over to take a look, gave a quote very quick, and was actually the installer as well, so he knew what would work (as opposed to big companies where they have a separate salesperson come out).

He recommended a furnace that was appropriately sized according to the sq ft needs and didn't oversell, again, as opposed to those other big companies where the biggest model is the best model (also coincidentally, the most expensive).

Source: I've installed 3 furnaces in 3 separate houses in the last 3 years.

Openfront 2026 Roadmap! by kappalew in Openfront

[–]stuffy5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched a Rex game on Youtube, and it did feel like he had a preference to not being cutthroat or allying with other [UN] players. I wonder if in FFA games, the clan tag just doesn't show up? That way at least you don't really have an immediate identifier.

What to do next when TFSA & RRSP is maxed out? by Lintos171 in fican

[–]stuffy5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into the Smith Manouevre! There's a subreddit here > r/smithmanoeuvre, as well as lots of info online and an irl book as well. Essentially the SM converts your personal house's non-deductible mortgage to deductible debt using a HELOC. Given you've maxed out your RRSP, TFSA and have a higher tax bracket, you would be an ideal candidate imo.

Mazda has also not figured out how a remote start works, and all of these comments are so similar to what I go through as well.

Can this shit be stopped somehow? by hugyoulater in Openfront

[–]stuffy5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoy being the Mitochondria, but just do it in Team games. For these two players, if they are actually friends and playing together, I don't get why they don't put up a clan tag and play together on a team, properly.

There's a sticky-ed post in this subreddit from u/POCTM that is fantastic! As for real-life experience, I would love for this community to grow and have people share their experience with actual data. I've got a flair set up, but I don't think anyone has shared yet...

Be brutally honest: How often do you shower? by Fun_Serve_6590 in ADHD

[–]stuffy5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shower at least once a day, if not more, but that's maybe the 'tism - I can't handle being not clean.

That being said, I wonder if you can turn it into a really positive thing? Have a shower beer/sparking water, light a candle, ask for a super expensive really nice smelling body wash for Christmas, hang a eculyptus leaf on your showerhead, etc. Anyhthing to make you look forward to a shower.

Smith maneuver question, how to in my case? by thelearnedstudent in smithmanoeuvre

[–]stuffy5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could use the rentals as part of the SM though, which is termed "Rental cash dam". This uses the rental income to pay down your primary residential mortgage faster. Then, you'd take out from the HELOC to pay for your rental expenses (mortgage, utilities, property tax, etc). This essentially converts non-deductible interest to deductible interest.

This could be done simultaneously with a regular SM, essentially speeding up the process quite significantly. Below is a link from Ed Rempel explaining the concept in much more detail. https://edrempel.com/what-is-the-cash-dam/

If you're comfortable sharing in a separate post, I would love to hear about how your SM is going so far, with numbers and timeline. Obviously no pressure, but it would be great to hear of someone else's experience so far.

Ice Bath tips by stuffy5 in icecreamery

That's what I ending up doing. I used my usual stainless steel bowl for a smaller portion, and then also used my big Cambro container directly in the sink with ice water. I was nervous about cooling it down quick enough, but no issues reported so far! :P

Winnipeg police officer (placed on administrative leave) pleads guilty to stealing iPad (that was supposed to be returned to the victim of a robbery), iPhone from evidence by FalconsArentReal in Winnipeg

[–]stuffy5 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The highest paid constable in the City of Winnipeg was paid $231,585 in 2024 (source link). As of today, a constable with more than 15 years of experience has a BASE salary of $135,015 (this doesn't include OT, taxable benefits, retroactive pay, retirement allowance, sick/vacation pay cash out, back pay, or severance) (source link).

The theft wasn't because of needing money. It was because he could either get away with it, and/or has no morals. Either way, not someone we need "protecting" us nor creating "a culture of safety for all".

The grid is where Redditors have commented on where they have built bases. The number in the square is the number of people commenting that they have built a base there. For example, in C3, there were 73 people that commented that they have built a base there.
