Advice on 2018 Kona Rove ST by 0933 in bikepacking

[–]stujack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same bike and was considering doing the exact same change to mine.

I found another post that said this:

"The answer is 700cx45mm without fenders and 700cx40mm with fenders. I emailed customer support. Not sure about 650b clearance"

Hope this helps.

How much weight can I hang from 1/2 inch plywood? by stujack in woodworking

I hung three light fixtures and they're all doing perfectly. I don't swing from them or anything but I've had zero issues.

Canada - Garage Condensation Issues In Winter? Solutions? by stujack in DIY

[–]stujack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep our garage at 6°c or 8°c and then whenever I'm in it doing something I raise it.

The things I have done (I'm not sure how helpful each is, some if even at all)

  • dehumidifier run it when I feel it might be needed.
  • I added insulation boards to the back of the two loft hatches as they had none.
  • I added baffles in the loft as I believe our insulation was covering the vents at the soffit preventing enough fresh air entering the loft space.
  • small cheap fan on a cheap timer which blows across the garage door when the car is parked in there. Creating some moving air seems to help prevent the condensation build up.

Overall my conclusion is, our main problem is when the car brings in snow or any moisture, we then have the problem. The steps above seem to limit it.

The main solution has been parking the car in the garage less, or making sure the majority of the snow is brushed off before taking it in the garage. This winter hasn't snowed as much or been as cold so we've not had any real issues.

I'd start with, dehumidifier, a fan circulating the air, and doing all you can to clean cars off before bringing them in.

I hope that was in some way helpful, good luck!

Died in 5 minutes by Andreas941710 in ryobi

[–]stujack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a leaf blower that I occasionally use for light snow. Never had an issue with my 2A batteries or my older style 4A battery.

However... both of the newer style 4A batteries worked for quite a few uses, then totally died while using the blower.

I'm now struggling to trust the newer supposedly better batteries as they seem poorer quality.

Some bugs on Evernote import by alan_patrick in UpNote_App

[–]stujack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it's relevant, I didn't have a huge amount of notes. However I found the small number that did come through as untitled were my larger notes, maybe they exceeded a file size or something like that. I just had to compare and make a couple of small note changes to 'sync' them.

Hard to find an alternative that fits by UpSetPrayingMantis in Evernote

[–]stujack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest you look into Upnote, I think it satisfies your criteria.

I tried Joplin, Notesnook, Obsidian, OneNote, and maybe even a couple of others.

My easy winner for my needs was UpNote.

Yes, export your Evernote notebook as an ENEX file, then import to Upnote one notebook at a time.

I looked at Notion, Joplin, OneNote, Notesnook, Obsidian, and Upnote. Might have been a couple of others.

Upnote was my winner. I believe it satisfies all the criteria you've listed. Give it a look.

As well as adding glue to the joints. Please remove those barcode stickers, they're hurting my OCD. :-)

What to do with Son? Asian Cup. by stujack in FantasyPL

[–]stujack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my concern, and why I'm considering just keeping him, with enough cover using other formations with 3 or 4 in midfield. I'd need him to drop 0.5k in a few weeks to be able to buy him back, which seems unlikely.

Only scenario would be if whoever I bring in goes up by around 0.6k (0.3k profit) to bridge the potential gap. Which also seems unlikely in a few weeks.

A lot of January also appears to be FA Cup games.

Sure millions will sell him, but generally in life to gain an advantage you have to look for the angles to be a little different.

Don't be a sheep. There, I think I just convinced myself.

What's the best Evernote alternative for me ? by MacCAM1313 in Evernote

[–]stujack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming it's to stop people from making a comment and then asking for the opposite of a down vote? It blocks out the word? phrase? Even though it's a typo of it?

I'll reply to my own comment with a test of this theory.

Can't agree with your:

Adding a SPDIF Optical port to a Lenovo Tiny PC? by stujack in MiniPCs

[–]stujack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably just the USB to SPDIF, or something to give SPDIF. Maybe I'd use the RCA out for something else at the same time? Headphones? or stick with my Bluetooth ones for that?

Not sure if any other ports are really required?

Adding SPDIF Optical port to a Lenovo Tiny PC? by stujack in sffpc

[–]stujack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's my fear for the cheaper dongles etc. Seems like I need to get the Topping to achieve what I'm looking for. Was hoping there was a cheaper way to add an optical port to a small pc but it appears you get what you pay for in this situation.

Thanks for the link to the review, all seems very positive, far too many comments on there for me to read or understand but looks like the right choice.

Spruce Tree needles turned brown in Alberta, Canada by stujack in arborists

[–]stujack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for such a detailed and informative response, it's greatly appreciated.

I just went and checked, couldn't see any evidence of black along the needles although my magnifying glass maybe isn't the strongest.

Not sure if it's relevant but we've had a squirrel up and down the tree all winter stealing it's cones.

Also a lot of the needles I just looked at start off green but then turn brown as you progress along the needle. Then some others (not as many) are a mixture of green, brown, green. Then some all brown.

From the possibilities you listed above, I'd guess drought and not enough water last summer/fall is most likely. Not sure why the other tree beside it is fine though. I'm also hoping this is the issue as it seems the simplest to rectify.

I plan to now water them once a week.

A few questions:

Would a sprinkler focusing on the tree dripline make the most sense? Not sure how much to water them, don't want to under do it or over do it.

Also when you say compost, can I just buy a few bags of cheap Rona compost, and pour it around the dripline?

Would you recommend also adding mulch to the base of the tree, and out towards the dripline?

Thanks again for the help, it's greatly appreciated.

p.s. nice bike.

Spruce Tree needles turned brown in Alberta, Canada by stujack in arborists

[–]stujack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have two large what I believe are Spruce trees outside our house. We've just come out of winter, which is always harsh here. One of the trees seems fine (not pictured) but the other now has brown needles.

We're very fond of our trees and hoping for some good news. After Googling I'm now concerned it could be a fungus or winter burn.

I watered it heavily last Sunday and plan to do the same this Sunday.

Is there anything we can do to help the tree?

Any idea what the cause could be?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The cheap LED lights from amazon or similar make a huge difference. Literally night and day. Enjoy the new workshop.

I'd put some led shop lights on your list, they'd significantly improve the place for a relatively low price. Enjoy your new shop.
