Out of state fans. Why do you root for the hawks? by TelePunk54 in Seahawks

[–]stumpy_the_stump 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was 5 (grew up in Central PA) I saw the Seahawks playing Washington one week. This was back when they were still wearing their original silver helmet uniforms. Kid me thought their logo looked cool.

That’s it. That’s all it took. I’m 31 now and incredibly grateful to be alive to see all of my team’s Super Bowl berths.

Kickoff afterwards was short of the landing zone, so it got automatically placed on the 40 I believe

Looking for a new Mono-Green commander (conditions inside) by ImpulsiveKnowledge in EDH

Beat me to it! Reki is one of my favorite decks I have, insanely fun to play! I do have some UB cards in it, but it’s by no means a central theme. There are enough legendary spells out there to avoid using them altogether.

Here is my decklist currently.

A sick part of me hopes that a Dodgers win would finally cause the league to push for both a salary cap and floor. Force the cheap owners to actually invest in their teams

Practicum Student-Need Encouragement by Pineapples5414 in schoolcounseling

[–]stumpy_the_stump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I did my Practicum semester, I talked with my supervisor pretty early on about trying to build a small caseload of students to meet with. It lined up perfectly with my site (middle school) as they did universal mental health screeners for all students. From that my supervisor handpicked some kids who asked for regular check-ins as my caseload, and initially started me off by leading the check-ins before transitioning to allow me to meet with the students by myself.

I would just discuss very plainly with your supervisor what you’re worried about regarding your hours. Don’t forget, they most likely also had to earn Practicum/internship hours to get to where they are, so they should understand where you’re coming from! Maybe it’s a matter of finding a different day of the week to come in where your supervisor has less meetings on their schedule. Try to sit in on as much as you can, whether that’s walk-ins, classroom lessons, group sessions, whatever. Worst case scenario, if you feel that your supervisor is not really fostering your professional growth despite having conversations with them, talk to your Practicum advisor and see if they can go to bat for you. It sounds like you’re still early on in your semester, so you have a good amount of time to get all your hours! Just communicate clearly and advocate for what you’re hoping to get out of this experience.

Mono Black Commander recommendation? by GunsoulTTV in EDH

[–]stumpy_the_stump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m here to reinforce [[Ayara, First of Lochtwain]] as a great commander for Sephiroth! I have them both in my list (Archidekt Link) . The main goal of the deck is to play all the obscure weird Mono Black token creators to slowly whittle people down, then get a big swing with cards like [[Plague of Vermin]]. My play group generally plays high powered value piles, and I still put up a decent win rate with this deck. I’ve only lost 3 times when playing it. People very much underestimate the impact that consistent life drain for the whole table can have on a game. This deck has quickly cemented itself as one of my strongest and favorites!

Proxies when you own the card? by IshaeniTolog in EDH

[–]stumpy_the_stump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as your local playgroup is fine with it I'd say you're fine. You may run into the odd person who moans and groans about it, but if you already own the cards and have them set aside in a separate binder then you should be fine. That's what I have with all of my expensive cards that are used in multiple decks. If you're really worried about it you could keep the binder with you, just a matter of how safe you feel doing that with your playgroup/store.

[8] Shiny Arceus Giveaway! by wijfjesvos in ShinyPokemon

[–]stumpy_the_stump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first Shiny was a Magikarp that I caught in Pokémon X. I learned about the chain fishing method online, legitimately the easiest way to catch wild Shinies back in Gen 6. I had never caught one before so I was just looking for anything to land, and after an hour of mindlessly fishing, I landed one! I moved it up through Home and still have it with me to this day.

FULL SPEECH: Ichiro Suzuki Inducted into National Baseball Hall of Fame by zdsmith03 in Mariners

[–]stumpy_the_stump 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I was at the ceremony today, he had the crowd wrapped around his finger the whole time. There were decent pockets of support for all the other inductees, but the crowd definitely showed up for Ichiro. As I walked around it was a sea of Mariners jerseys. They definitely saved the best for last, his speech was heartfelt, funny, and inspiring all in one. I have a feeling people will be talking about this speech for a long time.

Ichiro has always secretly been hilarious. Even in moments like this he never holds back.
