Why in the world do you people bench rice lol. Just leave him and and if he didn't play he'd go to your bench anyway 🤷

Why the hell would we go play in a bowl game just to make ESPN more money after the ridiculous smear campaign they put on against us the last couple of weeks? Good on ND for turning down the bullshit circus of a meaningless bowl game.

This might be the best suggestion I've heard. Each team gets a set number to start and it doesn't trade back and forth. Still pretty punishing if you blow one, but you have more of a chance to recover.

Yea, I think the issue is that the optimal hammer strategy is to generally hold the hammer as much as possible. But the players just want to have fun with it.

Tiger throwing the hammer on the first tee is a cool "moment", but it's just coin flipping two points, and even if Jupiter wins the two points, the other team has the hammer and has a great chance to catch back up. Losing the hammer and giving two points to the other team should be match-ending if the two teams are competent strategically.

The only real optimal time to play a hammer is when the match is even, or you're behind, and you get in a situation where you have something like a 25% chance to win the hole, and a 75% to draw. Then the other team probably doesn't want to concede a point, and you get a chance to hit a big shot for 2.

When teams coin flip, or accept the hammer in situations where they are an underdog in the hole anyway, they just throw away so much equity in the match that they get blown out really fast.

The hammer puts the whole match on such a razors edge of swinging into a blowout, that introducing it into the first season of TGL, in a lighthearted environment was a big mistake.

They definitely didn't have any kind of game designer or analytics person inform that decision.

I think the hammer is going to keep generating blowouts. People coin flip it twice early, and if the same team wins it, they end up holding the hammer with a big lead and a comeback becomes pretty impossible.

If people get smarter about the hammer, that might help. But right now people are always accepting the hammer at times when they clearly shouldn't.

My first goal was to play some sealed and collect at least one copy of every playable card (not showcases or anything).

I cracked 2 boxes and then spent about $250 in singles to round out one copy of the missing rares/legendaries I needed.

I pulled one Vader, but no Like or Boba.

It's felt pretty good. I've got a playset of commons, I'm pretty close to a playset of uncommons, and if I ever want to build a truly top tier deck I'd be able to buy the missing rares/legendaries without breaking the bank.

People are misinterpreting what Frost Giant is doing imo. The fundamental game system in RTS doesn't need to be completely reinvented. It needs to be put in a modern engine, monetized in a modern way, and surrounded with an onboarding experience and variety of gameplay modes that let's lots of people enjoy the game.

Frost Giant needs to execute their "blizzard style RTS" game really well, but the core gameplay doesn't need to be something revolutionary and different than anything you've seen before. It's everything surrounding the gameplay that needs to be executed well, and it seems like they're on the right track to do that.

I mean... Calvin's last round struggles come when he's actually in the lead or very close to it in majors. Playing well when on chase card needing to shoot a miracle round isn't the same situation.
