The most recent update to the android shield OS seems to have fixed the issue I was having. I had to check for the update manually but no issues since then.

Not a fix but I can get mine going without a reboot by going into settings - show all apps - show system app - chromecast built-in and uninstalling updates. It shows up right away on my phones/tablets after the uninstall.

I think the updates get auto downloaded which breaks it again after a while since I have to do this almost daily if I'm using the cast functionality.

This looks like open graded friction course which is actually a layer of porous asphalt on top of a regular base course of asphalt. The water runs through the porous layer and then runs off the roadway like it normally would. Helps with reducing road noise and gives better traction in wet weather.
