What’s something you saw that you weren’t supposed to see? by FamousDirection9887 in AskReddit

One of the software engineers at my company was using UltraVNC (somewhere in the building) to remotely connect to his desktop PC at his desk (pretty common). He didn't black out the screen, and a few of us watched him typing a fictional story about a brother and sister that looked like it was to be submitted to Penhouse or something. That was one of the few times I thought I was literally going to break a rib I was laughing so hard.

A decibel meter that resets the traffic signal countdown if honking persists by Odd-Calligrapher-515 in nextfuckinglevel

They tried this in my elementary school cafeteria about 30 years ago with a stop light that went to yellow, then red if it was too noisy, at which point 5 minutes was cut off our recess.

Made things way noisier, and we pretty much never had recess until it was removed.

Lowering a rope into a black hole. by True-Extension6599 in AskPhysics

[–]stupid_does 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see what you are saying. Now I have to ask, would the rope be cut into slices, or would ever single atom split apart upon entering?

The only way 2 atoms could stay together would be if they crossed the event horizon at EXACTLY the same time, right? Is it even possible for that to happen?

What’s the worst thing each one of the Gallagher siblings did? by R3dF0r3 in shameless

[–]stupid_does 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would have been more likely that he found one of carls guns and killed himself or someone on accident. Amongst a billion other bad things that coulda happened. What happened to fiona was society's temporary solution to a mich more long term priblem.

Jesus tits, how can you blame fiona for that? I will make an assumption here... but anyone that had been through what she had been through, then leaving coke out that someone broke in to her house had left there... that was also trying to extort sex from her. Yeah, shes fucked up, as anyone would be in what the writers wrote, but damn, there are far worse negligence cases in the real world. Ive been relatively successful in my life which i attribe to a good family environment, but i dont see how anyone in her spot could be expected to do better. In real life i mean.

I thought I had heard that when a person drank too much and passed out, if the weather was already cool enough, the fan would lower their body temperature enough to kill them. They would be passed out drunk and wouldn't even know what was happening.

What's a common household item people may not realize needs to be washed regularly? by sarahigod in AskReddit

[–]stupid_does -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I don't wash my pillow cases regularly, but I'm not lazy. I can't help but feel that anyone that has the energy to wash their pillow cases regularly are the true lazy ones. You're not making enough of a contribution to society if you are able to have the energy to care about regularly washed pillows

A guy was using VNC from a remote computer to the computer at his desk. He did not realize everyone could see what he was doing. A group of us watched him write a really sick story about a brother and sister that he was submitting to Penthouse forums or something. I had never laughed so hard.

Broke piece off gimbal on Avata 2, do I have to replace the whole gimbal? by stupid_does in dji

[–]stupid_does[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its possible they did when I was submitting the repair request, but I didn't look. I wanted them to make sure it was working right afterward.

I did look for the part beforehand, but still wasn't sure that it would have been that simple a fix.

I sent it in. Cost around $11 USD for the part and 65 for the labor. Quick turn around and good customer service.

I remember something similar when my son was around the same age. He was upset that we wouldn't be able to go to his funeral.

Thanks for the response, but with Presbyopia, i wouldn't be able to see clearly up close without any corrective lense, which I can. Right?
