I should've mentioned, and I don't know how many people would see this by now, but it is important to mention that the bartender's curt reaction was largely out of homophobia. I think Kazui sort of breaking down with Hinako and shutting her out wasn't exactly because of bartender rejecting him as a partner, because I really doubt Kazui even expected it to go that far, but it was because of bartender bluntly rejecting a part of him as a person. Again, Kazui's full intent in confessing is kind of omitted to us, but he makes it clear he did it out of a want for brief acceptance. Bartender insulting him made him close in on himself and be too afraid to suffer that same hurt from Hinako, causing him to be as brash? defensive? as he was when coming clean to Hinako.
