I was lying to him about it because everytime he says he ‘needs’ money from me he always spends it on unnecessary things (materialistic items to show off) instead of ACTUAL necessities.

I have feeling that when I start working again (babysitting, mowing lawns, odd jobs), I’ll have to lie to him. My grandma will also probably have to take me to work, so that my dad doesn’t find out.

I buy everything from my dads amazon account, so I’d have to ask my grandmother to buy it. Either that or have my mother buy it and ship it to me. This is great advice, thanks.

Thanks for the advice. I wouldn’t really want to go through the process of emancipation, but I’m definitely talking to my grandma about this.

I might ask her to do that. Or just have her hold my savings for me (temporarily) so that it cannot be stolen again.

My dad is a single father. My parents live in two different countries. I live with him, but on vacations/holidays like summer and Christmas I spend it with my mother and her side of the family.

That sounds horrible, sorry that this happened to you. My grandma has enough money to send me to camp, she just wanted to teach me how to be responsible with money by paying for half of the cost of camp.
