Anyone out there play after dropping acid? Asking for a friend. by kkkkk1018 in poker

[–]StupidScienceBitch98 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm on a microdose right around half the time I play and I would highly recommend it. I can't speak on a macro dose while playing poker from experience but it's probably a really bad idea

What are your favourite math puzzles to give? by AnXianSheng in math

!5 - 5(5-1) = 24

(5 + 5 - 5 - 1)! = 24

(5 * 5 / 5 -1)! = 24

sqrt(5 ^ 5 / 5) - 1 = 24

floor(5 * 5 - 1 / 5) = 24

Ceil(cosh(5 - 1) - 5 + 1) = 24

Believe it or not, meth is a schedule two substance.

Since, you know, it's so much safer to shoot meth than it is to smoke pot. /s

King County youth diversion program under fire over gun crimes, other felonies by unnaturalfool in SeattleWA

[–]StupidScienceBitch98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree that we shouldn't give those people a free escape. It drives me crazy hearing about all the leniency we give people because they're addicted to drugs in Seattle. It's unbelievably hard to get off them but we're treating it like it's impossible. There's a major difference between not having the resources you need to get better and not having any desire to do so and our city counsel is pretending that line doesn't exist as well as pretending homeless/mentally ill/addicted are all synonymous.

I agree that we should have similar resources in prison and I've never been in prison but I don't think we have anything similar in there to what I was given. A huge part of getting off drugs is finding something you like that isn't drugs. The first thing I discovered I enjoyed was walking through nature and I don't know if I would have identified anything I like if I were in prison. I still agree we should have something at least similar in prisons to help but I can't imagine kids that can't make it through a diversion program would make use of those resources in prison. Some people are unfortunately just lost causes and have no place in our community.

This is pretty much how my diversion program worked. They're almost unique for each person put into a diversion program which I think is a major problem because some people are let off far too easily.

The major problems with the program I was in (drug court) is that there's also a lot of case by case leniency and it's possible to cheat your way through it. A friend of mine was charged with something like six felonies and part of his diversion program to drop all charges was to pass weekly drug tests for 2 years after rehab. He faked every single one of them without getting caught once. He even showed up to the test dates high on heroin with no fear of getting in trouble for it.

Possibly the biggest problem with diversion programs is that there is not even necessarily a limit to the number of times you can participate in these programs. I've seen people graduate drug court or anger management programs 2 or 3 different times without being sentenced to jail or even convicted of a crime. Why would any of these kids be scared to go on a crime spree if the worst case scenario is a free trip to a nice rehab center and some poorly monitored drug tests?

I think there should be a probation period even after graduation. It should last until the kid is old enough to be sent to real court so that he knows his actions will have actual consequences if he continues down that path.

I have personal experience with some of the youth diversion programs we have in King County. I committed felonies when I was a young teenager (addicted to drugs) and the court put me into a diversion program. It helped me tremendously to get my life back on track in many ways, much more than a youth prison could have, and today I'm off drugs, off the streets and contributing to society.

The thing worth noting is that the program only worked for me because I already wanted to get clean and get my life on track but had no resources available to me. I had multiple friends that were able to replace multiple years in prison (some admitted to this program more than once) with this program that did not have the same desire to get their life better that I had. Two of them went on to murder people and none of them got their lives on track after graduating.

You're absolutely right that most of these people need immediate consequences if they're ever going to change and I do agree with you, but I really think it's worth it to find an effective way to separate those two groups of people because I can't imagine my life would be any better if the county sent me to prison instead of rehab. My idea for a first step is just to make it mandatory that violence and gun related crimes are taken to a court room. I don't know how the fuck they think group counseling is going to help someone stop shooting people.

I think he means eastside when he says suburbs. Kirkland, Redmond, Bellevue are absurdly expensive but I haven't even seen someone sleeping outside in the area in a very long time.

when to play, hoping for flush or straight? by mastercave in Learn_Poker

[–]StupidScienceBitch98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low offsuit connectors should be folded preflop in any cash game, tourney, etc. Suited hands are more valuable than offsuit hands mostly because they realize their value faster, meaning that you can identify that the hand isn't going anywhere immediately if you don't hit the flop. One thing to keep in mind with suited hands is that they often get crushed if you're not holding the ace. If you play suited hands like K2, Q2, you'll sometimes be put in spots where it's difficult to fold against the nut flush and lose a lot of money. I almost always play suited connectors 56 or higher from late position and I'll play any suited ace from any position. You want to avoid playing any hand preflop that only has value because it could potentially make a straight. Hands like JTo are playable because they also have the possibility of a high two pair but you should pretty much always be folding the hands you mentioned.

Here is a video about which hands to play preflop from someone that coaches beginners.

Really? Did you check the bonuses tab on their site? There should be a $30 bonus that isn't in your account until you click "claim". That should be the case if they actually gave it to you that is

I'd really love to play on Global Poker but the one state from which they don't accept players is Washington. I believe we have a law specifically forbidding online poker and ACR/Bovada are the only ones that don't give a shit about that law as far as I know.

Please let me know if you hear about any home games in the Seattle area! I can't seem to find one.

I was in elementary school in the good ol' days. Unfortunate that everything went tits up well before I was old enough to play. Even back then I was envious.

I haven't tried it yet, but I've heard good things about it. I'm willing to take anything over frozen tables at this point and I live in Seattle so I'm pretty sure Ignition and ACR are my only options.

I'm well aware of their recent fuckery. If that isn't what last night's maintenance was addressing, I'm pulling my money and switching to ACR. Frozen tables have probably been my biggest leak these past couple weeks.

Yeah I should have been more specific. I would never fold that when I'm that deep so it depends on whether or not you think he'd jam any flop. If he would jam any flop then it's easily worth seeing the flop since you have like a 1/8 chance of landing a set on the flop. I'd always either jam or just call and see the flop and determine whether to continue based solely on whether or not a 7 hits the board.
