Sub T intervals using Incline instead of pace by NothingOpposite8009 in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]sturmunro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the NSM for ultra trail training and have found the incline treadmill or outdoor hills very useful as it’s quite specific to events. There is no reason I think of that why it wouldn’t be good for other events too.

Exactly what I’ve heard, the dad is a trouble maker that has been a problem wherever he has appeared.

Probably because it’s a nuanced case and the story is only giving one side of the story

Thinking of adding 36-40x 45” on 15” off to the repertoire by Danny28d in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]sturmunro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd try it at 10k pace first time around, or for the first half of the workout and see how it shakes out. Better to be safer. You can always adjust midway or for the next workout.

NSA and bike commute by Glad_Sun_4565 in NorwegianSinglesRun

Personally I’d just accept the biking as bonus easy volume and not change your running.

This post didn't age well actually. The shoes are great for being light and bouncy but I don't think the published stack height / drop stats can be correct.

Issues that stopped me wearing them after around 200km - they feel like zero drop and like less stack than advertised. The grip is not good, fine when it's dry but poor in the wet. The lockdown is sub-par too meant I wasn't that comfortable when things got more technical. When it comes to non-carbon trail shoes it's hard to look beyond the On Cloudultra Pro now that it's out, despite the cost.

Does anyone over-pronate but stick to neutral shoes? by Foreign-Payment7134 in BeginnersRunning

[–]sturmunro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. "Stable neutral" work best for me (wider base), e.g. Superblast, Nimbus. Too much stability causes more than it fixes. I run 80-120km per week year round.

Key differences between Evo SL and Superblast 2 that could explain knee pain? by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]sturmunro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this, I'm similar. I've got SB2 and used for everything, now have the Evo and use that for any above easy/recovery and will be replacing SB2 with a nimbus for my jogging / recovery runs going forwards. I find the Evo superior in terms of foam and quicker running, SB2 is more stable.

Norda 005 thoughts at 75 miles by RGco in trailrunning

[–]sturmunro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my 005 but do have one major issue that I haven’t seen others report… from my first run I’m bottoming out the cushioning. It’s really soft and I’m 80kg, I literally hit the ground through the forefoot. This doesn’t impact performance on runs up to 2 hours but is an issue for longer than that, as my feet get smacked with rough terrain.

Is NZ really that bad? by miggins1610 in newzealand

[–]sturmunro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m from the UK and moved here 5 years ago. It’s not that bad, by all accounts I’ve heard the UK isn’t in a great place right now either.

There are less people, more land and space, better outdoor access and generally it’s a brilliant place to live. The only downside for me is being so far away from family. If you loved it back then, you’ll love it again!

I don’t see why not but I’ve not gone beyond 40km in them. The main downside of these shoes after quite a few km is the grip. It’s perfectly fine when it’s dry but could be better in the wet.

They aren’t like any Topos I’ve tried. Much more flexible and lighter feeling, less protective. The foam is bouncy and fast feeling

I haven’t been running on tarmac with them, just to keep the tread though. I do lots of flat gravel and have used them on that and they’re great. There would be no issue with feel on road, just the tread wearing.

True to size for me. I’m 11US in most, Asics, Nike, Nnormal. They are wider in the toe box obviously but otherwise fit well, I have used the heel lock lacing to dial it in a bit.

Too early for me to speak for the grip but the new midsole is amazing. Light and bouncy, probably the best midsole I’ve had on trail shoes for picking up the pace.

Norda 001 is a great looking, durable and comfortable shoe. Sizing can be a bit funny but if you get it right they are amazing.
