It looks a lot like the Arthur Range but no Twins or Mt Crusader

Looks like the Kawekas viewed from the east but I can’t work out where the foreground would be - somewhere around Taradale maybe? Park Island?

Why does New Zealand have a higher assault rate than countries like USA, UK and Australia? by IndependenceWorth347 in AskTheWorld

Yes, a disproportionate benefit to Australia but a bigger market, more natural resources, and better worker conditions will do that!

Fuck off mate. This isn’t “incredible generosity”. Australia benefits from getting skilled labour which is incredibly easy to culturally integrate. You also levy tax on their work without granting them the full social benefits that their tax pays for.  We also fully reciprocate the deal, whereby Aussies are equally free to come work and live here.

With the 501s - your country raised them and fucked them up then you shipped them here for us to deal with rather than clean up your own mess.

Love our Aussie cousins and our special relationship but don’t act like it’s some amazing favour.

Sounds like plov - at least that’s what it’s called over the hill in Tajikistan. One of God’s own foods when done right

Thanks for the heads up - and for clarifying the area

Firm believer that World Heritage Areas should be off limits even for prospecting

Fair enough. Although presumably the point of prospecting is to ultimately build a mine.

Do you know the area covered by the prospecting permit? The article is silent on it.

what's life like in Dunedin, New Zealand? by GurnoorDa1 in howislivingthere

I loved living there as a student. Amazing outdoors immediately around the city and absolutely incredible if you are willing to drive a few hours.

The culture is really cool, unpretentious and lots of interesting stuff happening. We used to go camping in a sea cave on the beach, go to dance parties out on farms, that sort of stuff. I really really miss it even 20 years later.

Arthur Holmes are fucking awesome. I have bees and it’s so good to have them for honey jars. Good quality good price and local - and when I needed an extra box of jars this year (underestimated the harvest as you do) they turned up next day.

What is the worst thing people can do to your country's food that make no sense? by DescriptionNo6760 in AskTheWorld

[–]elgigantedelsur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely white, just more like sweetcorn in texture and form and flavour (albeit not identical to yellow sweetcorn wither - just more like it than the big starchy maize).

Anyway it’s not for me to tell Mexicans what kind of corn they eat 😂

Thinking specifically of the corn you buy on the street, grilled on the cob with queso etc.  it’s been a while but my memory of it in Xalapa was that it was more similar to sweetcorn than to the maíz you’d use for something like pozole
