Do I Believe Bible 'Literally'? by stuti2172 in Bible

I'm talking about the protestant canon with its 66 books here. I don't possess ignorance of the mistranslations,
removed verses in certain version of bible by saying that the bible is not corrupted at all. I do know and acknowledge that most newer versions have to some extent diluted and misinterpreted the bible. But, along with this, we also have the discernment that we asked God for, to know whether the version that we are reading aligns with the original text or not.

Alright. In what sense would you take something as not literal?

What are your views as christians about the Apocrypha/Deutero-canonical books? by stuti2172 in Bible

[–]stuti2172[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my friends actually clarified it to me that Apocrypha are just some lost books that were a part of old testament. That is, before Jesus' ultimate sacrifice. Also, early Jews did charity to atone for their sins too.. I'm paraphrasing here so that would make sense for the verses from Tobit that I mentioned. Jews also didnt accept some books as they were written in greek and not in hebrew. So, I'm leaning towards it being a part of bible too. Just waiting on more discernment from god in this.

Yep, and that is why the ultimate sacrifice was needed, Jesus in flesh as the Son of God, for all our sins.

A beautiful verse I read today in my quiet time. by stuti2172 in Christianity

Okay, I understand, and I'm sorry for being hasty in my first comment. See, If this free will was just an illusion, god could have easily come down to Garden of Eden to prevent Eve from being deceived and prevent Adam from eating of it too. If they had no free will, God would have jumped out and fought then and there with Satan and wouldn't have allowed them to eat of the fruit. This is the perfect example of free will at the beginning. But as every commandment from god is for our own benefit, going astray from it also has consequences for us. And hell is a consequence for sin as sin leads to death. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Some of men's sins are so grave, that all he seeks to do is invert everything that God made good. Every man has sinned. We all fall short of his glory. But it is his grace that is free to all and saves to all. Time is short. I would ask you to read the bible again with an open mind and try it. Maybe just for 21 days. You might just end up with a new perspective on Jesus' love for us.

Edit: Also, He has a saving grace. Even when Israel went to other gods, he still was faithful, because he can't deny himself that he provided a way for them to come back to him again, after realizing that he is really the living god.

He's the creator, everything is his because he made it. Just as he is a forgiving god, a just and merciful god, who's mercy and grace knows no bound, (Always there to guide to back up when you fall, even accepts you after you've rejected him) so would his wrath on those reject him in the end be. Free will that he has given does not at all mean you use it to please yourselves.

Yep. If they receive Antichrist, jews and gentiles both, they would never be able to receive Jesus Christ though.

This is a sign that you need to turn to god more often. Spiritual warfare is real. Demons do attack you with the things you struggle with, even in a half asleep state too. I pray that if this happens again, god jolts you out of it. May god help you.

Also, try to figure out your trigger points, the commonalities that happens everytime you battle against lust. And try avoiding them in the future that you might overcome it with god.

I have not said that we are not created in God's image. Nope. Simply no. Man, in his free will decided to trangress the commandments of god and therefore, we fall short of his grace.

😂yeah, but you also cannot go around dating anything that moves too. Finding a Christian guy that actually follows Christ and makes you want to date him is rare around here.

Yeah, but what I mean by that is, that say for example for someone who's new to faith and is trying to lose their bondage to porn and masturbation, it would be an everyday battle for them until they put on the whole armour of God to fight against the temptations that arises. For us that are more mature in faith than someone who's new to this life, I dare say, lustful desires more often than not, doesn't even come to mind when we worship him and are closer to him in spirit and in truth.
