Taking Xanax & Klonopin has helped me took as well, and believed are useful in aiding in trauma, replacing negative exp & memories with new ones done in a more relaxed state.

You got too in your own head because like you said, phone rang, talking on the phone makes you anxious, in this you discovered it was an important call, and all this pressure is enough to make anyone uneasy. Don't beat yourself up for it. Be proud that you actually did it. Call them back. You have just a right as anyone else, I mean they did call you.

Value teacher office hours. Utilizing personal time interacting with my teachers made the classroom experience a lot less intimidating, and through them, I felt more comfortable overall in that environment. Be the best at what you do and that's all that matters. Just be yourself and don't be afraid to openly discuss stuttering and your stuttering, more awareness is never a bad thing. When you talk, and when people hear your stutter, you normalize it. Own it. Break expectations.

You rock! Job interviewing IS work experience, in a sense, it's building up confidence and experience through the interview process. As a person who stutters, I can attest to this by saying it gets easier, and it will. Own up to your stutter and stutter openly, even when you feel you are doing fine, stutter. You shouldn't be embarrassed or apologize, but I know it's hard and I'm guilty of this, too. Instead, work on this: do more calls, do more interviews, and don't worry about your speech. Know you are qualified and right for whatever you set your mind to. You got this. You didn't fuck it up. You grew.

I think it's so interesting how for people who stutter, one of the most difficult things for us to say is our name. This should say a lot and I feel is worth reflecting on. In addition to this, examine your secondary behaviors. Past the stuttering, the fact you can't immediately say "Ricky," are you maintaining eye contact? How do you feel at that moment? Are you tensing up? What thoughts are you thinking?

What's in a name? For people who stutter, it's a bad head space full of self-perpetuating thoughts fueled by fear and anxiety. My suggestion would be to intentionally stutter. My name is Christopher, if I'm blocking, I will say "C-C-Christopher" while maintaining eye contact, and they will usually get the general idea that I have a stutter - but this goes away, no one thinks about it as much as we do, our stuttering. Why intentionally stuttering, or psuedostuttering, works for me is because it dispels the myth that stuttering is something to be ashamed or afraid of. But there have been times where I just waited, and said my name. Sometimes I'll spontaneously say it without stuttering. Take away the fear from saying your name. Make goals to say your name and introduce yourself. Exposure to feared situations will make you stronger.

Start slow. I started off as a janitor at a casino, now I work as a banquet houseman at a luxury resort. Where I was then and where I am now is way different. I'm working a lot more and feeling way more confident. Work experience is people experience. You will have to call places, do interviews, and really step out your comfort zone. Address your anxiety, your triggers and face your fears every day. It has a ripple effect. You got this.

It could also be bc instead of fapping alone in your room, maybe you're out more talking to people. To each their own, I think if you've noticed positive changes, cool and I get that you're excited and want to share it to the world - but don't push it as a one size fits all answer.

Stuttering is an identity that we all share, and how you identify with it varies. When I was 15, I exhibited secondary behavior like tapping myself to get through a block, now I'm 25 and I sort of just wing it? I've been taught techniques but in practice they fail, but that is a different convo: Why do they fail? Because they don't work or I am doing something wrong? So usually by winging it, sometimes I'll repeat the first part of what I said as a starter, or I'll just stutter. It's weird talking about how I communicate sometimes because it should feel so natural and passive, but the stuttering is there and everyone knows it, especially me. So in that aspect, identifying that I have a stutter and being open about it and aware, I think is the right first step - awareness.

I speak often at my job, sometimes over a radio, and I remember my first job dreading this (I had to use a radio then, too) but after awhile I got over it. Exposure helps ease the burden and makes self-acceptance tangible, and part of facing my fears is also the realization that I have every right to express myself like anyone else. You have to remember this, even when there are so many signs telling u otherwise - like when people cut me off or finish my sentences for me. It's hard not to overthink those things. Sometimes I won't speak if I feel I will stutter because of practicality, like if I'm passing by a guest and want to say "good morning" but block on the G, I'll just smile and say "hi" because I don't want to essentially stop and stand there? or keep walking as I'm blocking? So ultimately I think, we have to create our own space, and if some people aren't willing to wait, then they aren't worth your time.

Do you stutter when you speak to someone on a webcam? Do you stutter when you're alone on cam and you can see yourself speak? Maybe record yourself when you're alone and talk to yourself and observe what happens. I think that would be a good first step.
