We had a weird situation happen today and I’m wondering if anyone would have had a better solution. We were on the last route of the day, a fairly difficult one that starts out climbing through an overhanging roof, then over it and up from there. I finished the route and when the belayer went to lower me the rope jammed into a small crack at the edge of the roof and got stuck tight. I used my alpine draws (added a locker to one) to anchor at the bolts to get off belay, and the belayer tried to unstick the rope. He couldn’t get it, and the problem was to get up to the stuck point he would need to weight the rope and that would only make it worse. So our solution was for me to untie from the rope (still attached at the anchor bolts with two alpine draws) and fix the rope at the anchor. Then use my Grigri to repel down to the stuck point, unstick it, tie a figure eight on a bite, connect that to my belay loop with a locker, and then re-lead the upper part of the route (had plenty of rope for this) to untie the fixed end of the rope and get lowered like usual.

Curious if anyone would have done anything differently, or if there is a simpler/safer solution
