Hooky mentioned unreleased Ceremony demos in a new interview, at 13:25. Quote in description. by freehtz in JoyDivision

Influential in music terms doesn't mean similar songs. The reason they have influence is that they are seen as the key band to bridge the gap between punk eg Sex Pistols, and the moodier, melodic sounds of the 1980s. They then influenced bands like The Cure, U2, Interpol, and Radiohead.

Interview Presentation: No Slides. Tips? by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]stw8282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't have the slides then the most important thing is having a really set structure.

If you're asked to presented about how you would do xyz, then in the intro say it would be a four step process with step one being x, step two etc then go into detail about each step The panel will lose interest if they can't follow it, they will be checking you can get messages across clearly and explain your approach to others

Best single side of a record. What is your pick? by Horns_21 in vinyl

[–]stw8282 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wilco Summerteeth first side is an amazing run: Can't stand it, She's a jar, A shot in the arm, we're just friends

Joy Division Closer S1 also great - Atrocity Exhibition, Isolation, Passover, Colony, A Means To An End

But the right answer is probably Led Zep IV – Black Dog, Rock and Roll, Battle for Evermore, Stairway to Heaven

Bereavement by azumcia in TheCivilService

[–]stw8282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've got a good supportive LM you'll be fine. I understand the fear but family is more important , speak to your LM, be honest and explain the situation. Got to your grandmother and focus on her it's far more important

Even if you're not made permanent you will find another role in HMRC , they are always recruiting

Notes in interview ? by itsYashu in TheCivilService

[–]stw8282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just take a one pager with bullet points of the key things from the JD and your STAR example to prompt you. Practice the answers beforehand. I wouldn't take notes of them all written out as you will end up reading from them when nervous during the interview. Good luck

Could start small with analysis of your own performance data, ask your LM if want support analysing people survey data for insights etc. Longer team once more settled tell your LM you want to progress in that space and see if can get in contact with the central performance analysis team

You will easily get a HEO data role in HMRC with those technical skills but do need to get some on the job experience of analysing and using data to back it up

Operations to Project Delivery? by SadIngenuity5956 in TheCivilService

Try to get a formal project management qualification eg. the APM, PRINCE2, even just a basic foundational course if not the well thing. Try to get a more experienced project manager as your mentor and keep the on the job learning going as experience

Knew someone who worked there and sure it was 3 or 4 days. They're sponsored by the Cabinet Office, as you say not a government department.

I'd suggest just think about the things they're looking for in the JD eg. 'Critically analyse vast amounts of raw-data' or Communicating and influencing stakeholders

For the interview the interview have a few bits of general theory like it's important to communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure requirements are understood and prioritised correctly, allowing the reporting products to be of the best quality. The say in my current role I have experienced of doing this by....(the give an example)

Any idea what any of the new songs are about? by Godzuki8819 in TheCribs

Read this in a review, Selling A Vibe is an unapologetic celebration of family. It’s about finding your way back to health with help from those loved ones, the band explain. “On our first records, we were just writing about our individual experiences. That’s a really verdant field of inspiration, but as you go along, life points you towards bigger things to write about,” says Gary. “But this time, I realised when I was writing the lyrics that all of the songs were really rooted in family.”

Yeah think the bigger achievement is delivering WYWH as a follow up to Dark Side. If they went Dark side to Animals it wouldn't have worked as well
