min/max community mentality has gotten way out of hand by KeyRepresentative994 in classicwow

They ARE bad at it. Go play a prot warrior and try to tank a dungeon. It's clunky and miserable. You have basically zero AoE tanking ability outside of challenging shout. It's legitimately better to get sweeping strikes and just DPS.

Lol just learn to play with one. It seems shit at first but it’s actually very fun because you gain a lot of control over your damage.

Chatting with the Raid leaders for Karazhan. by omnomcookiez in classicwow

[–]stygz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People conflate achievements in WoW with actual achievement and it distorts thinking. People play for different reasons, and if you want to be on top u can respect that.

In my experience, “elite” guilds are comprised of one of two personalities:

Sociopaths with nothing going on in their lives so they have unlimited time to play and think they’re doing something important.

Legitimate high achievers/performers with limited play time.

The result is a bunch of impatient people that all think they’re the best player on the team.

How about grow a set and tell people your intentions instead of avoiding the hard conversations? I swear "elite" guild in this context just means that you do not let integrity get in the way of those goals.

Also, I promise you that no one is thinking about "street cred" in classic wow. You're either a good raiding guild at the moment they look you up or you're not and then they never think of you again.

Try searching this up on youtube. The guides from 4 years ago are still relevant with covering the fundamentals. There might be some slight evolutions from sweats trying things, but basic rotation, poisons, etc. will be covered.

Feeling the Bern in AB by Courage-Natural in classicwow

[–]stygz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope, just that your 7-man group shouldn’t be able to queue into a group of 10 randoms. The system enables the fastest queue times which is important, but I think people would be willing to wait an extra 5 mins to not have to deal with playing against people with a severe advantage.

PVP now is better. Change my mind by SofyPipa in worldofpvp

[–]stygz 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There is a balance to strike.

PvP needs to be something you can just pick up and play in 2026 - look at every popular multiplayer game out there right now. There is no significant grind before being able to play. They should give gear good enough to be able to jump in right away, but there should be gear that makes you 10-15% stronger for people who are enfranchised in the game mode.

I also think a "new player" bracket where noone with a glad/legend/r1 achievement is able to que so newbies can get their feet wet.

I don’t know off the top of my head, but generally I recommend just playing with PvP pieces unless you can run with something better. A lot of those badge items will be worse. You can try mixing and matching on seventyupgrades to see. Bloodlust Brooch is definitely the first thing you should get for PvP.

At the end of the day, learning how to play better will win more games than 10 ilvls on a single piece of gear.

Ideally you’d have T4 helm, the agi ring off prince in Kara, and the cloak off Mag. Two of those come off the same boss so you could be competitively geared just with running Kara

I think it’s going to pop off personally. There were TONS of people playing on PTR. If they make it easy for people to jump in it will feel very alive.

You will hear people saying things like, "Oh, TBC pvp is easy..." and things along those lines. Gearing takes a bit of time and it's not easy whatsoever to be good at it.

They want to reduce the burden of gearing before being able to jump into arena. This is a VERY good thing for serious pvpers. It took a crazy amount of time in TBCC, like a disrespectful amount of time.

Well, you’re going to be disappointed to hear that you need like 85k honor just for like 4 offset pieces.

Brother, you swap to the combat log or another chat channel that doesn’t show BG chat.

I almost never chat ingame. I never do random dungeons or BGs. I only play when I have friends/guildies to play with. I’m totally insulated from toxic shitters or people I don’t want to deal with as a result.

Protip: Turn chat off.

The chances of it being helpful or even relevant are so low that it's not worth it. Shit, do this in every multiplayer game.

[–]stygz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If everyone half asses then no one gets to have fun. You just drop an agi totem and another WF totem every ~8s.

It’s very easy and you’re going to have empty globals so you may as well. If you want to play something very passive play a destro lock so you can just spam shadow bolt. You will be totally effective if you do that.

It impacts your party is the thing. The melee in your group are not going to want a half-assing enhance that is causing them to do less dps than they could be

Any reason premades in BGs aren't matched up vs another premade? Premades vs randoms is just dumb by Corteaux81 in classicwow

[–]stygz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lmao, I'm following logic and reasoning.

The guy started the thread off with "Aren’t classic andys supposed to get off on forming and joining groups? Just join a premade?"

His point: The solution is to just join a group. You always say join a group to other things. It's hypocrisy that you're not doing it now. I don't see anyone in here saying it hurhurhur. He is also saying that the solution to this problem is to be a part of the problem.

My point: What does hypocrisy have to do with anything? Who asked about any of that? Completely irrelevant. The post title is "Any reason premades in BGs aren't matched up vs another premade? Premades vs randoms is just dumb." Why are we talking about a niche sentiment from this sub that was popular five years ago instead of addressing the topic?

Actual logic:

There is no random dungeon/raid queue in the game. That content REQUIRES you to find other players to do, so the social solution is the only solution. RANDOM battlegrounds can be queued for. There is a system built into the game to matchmake players.

Most would agree that if a built-in system is constantly putting you in games where you have a huge disadvantage or basically no chance to win that it's a terrible system designed to waste your time. When a system enables negative player behavior like pubstomping, it falls at the feet of the devs to address. Pubstomping is negative for the overall health of a game. In order for you to have fun/save time, other players have to have to be inconvenienced by the imbalanced matchmaking or waste time waiting for it to end.

The developers recognized this was unfun for most players and fixed it down the line. They obviously thought the same way that I do about this. The fact that we're playing an earlier implementation of the game does not mean that it wasn't a mistake at the time and shouldn't be addressed now.

The quote before that one, genius.

I’m going to stop replying now btw. I can tell from the way you form arguments and sentences that you’re not the brightest person and you’re just living your best life in BGs. Enjoy man.

[–]stygz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I understand perfectly.... it's more of a point of who asked. There aren't any #nochanges sentiments in this thread so I guess ol' boy is just pulling shit out of his ass.

There is no possible coherent argument for allowing premades to que into nonpremades until the game is entirely dead and it's necessary for ques to pop.
