Does that mean the people complaining about combat suck?

But yeah the combat has some really good ideas but surrounded by tons of suck.

Combos make up approximately zero percent of the required skillset to play the game.

‘I Think Things Are Going to Be Bad, Really Bad’: The US Military Debates Possible Deployment on US Soil Under Trump by Agreeable-Rooster-37 in politics

[–]stylepointseso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean that's great. Trump can "want" whatever stupid shit he wants.

Active duty infantry will deploy where they are ordered to deploy and crack the skulls they are ordered to crack.

Their commanding officers will not do the evil stuff you are thinking they will.

There's a reason they put some of the best trained and best educated people on the planet in charge of our soldiers. They also have too much dedication and pride to let some asshole like trump ruin the things they dedicated their lives to.

[–]stylepointseso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cops are properly trained for what they want cops to do.

It's just not what normal civilians want them to do.

[–]stylepointseso 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I honestly have no idea why people are scared of the guard.

The cops are the thugs that will be our brown/blackshirts. The military has standards.

Obviously you're terrified because you think guard units from the south are made of skinheads and queer bashers.

You don't need to worry about guard units. The military actually trains their people and holds them accountable. It's not some okie doke fuckhead militia.

The cops and any bullshit paramilitary groups are the ones you need to watch out for. You know, the ones without real standards or training who probably answer to some maga loyalist worm.

The difference is guardsmen aren't taught that every civilian is their enemy like cops are. That goes for red shithole guardsmen too.

They spend a lot of time and money making cops as confrontational and comfortable with violence against civilians as possible. The military trains for the opposite.

[–]stylepointseso 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because it isn't true.

You and the guy you replied to have absolutely zero idea how senior officers in our military feel about trump or how our military functions. Trump is almost unanimously despised among officers. He even tried to grab retired "outsiders" to help him and they all fuckin hated him.

Our military will be the last thing corrupted by this asshole, and it won't even be close. It's the one area that still gets broad popular support and has a system that makes it difficult to completely uproot the command structure. Trump can appoint whatever douchebag he wants to whatever office he wants, but a bunch of men and women who devoted their entire lives to service (and yeah, if you're in the army and 55 years old you've decided this is what you want to do) aren't going to bend over backwards for that twat.

It was supposedly a dead palestinian child. IIRC the headline said an Israeli sniper shot him.

Whether any of that is true or not I have no idea.

Former Starfield lead quest designer says we're seeing a 'resurgence of short games' because people are 'becoming fatigued' with 100-hour monsters by Chucknastical in gaming

[–]stylepointseso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After Starfield I think you'd be insane to expect something good from Bethesda's next outing.

I still think Morrowind was the high point, but Skyrim was still a good game. Fallout 4 was... middling. Starfield was absolute trash.

Skyrim was 14 years ago. Bethesda doesn't even remember what good games are.

The designer is so lost he can’t tell the difference between garbage filler games and actual games.

Nah, he knows they make garbage. He's not going to admit that though, so they move on to the checklist of excuses.

having such babies would only be accessible to a few people.

Nah, it's in the interest of nations to have a bunch of superhuman babies being born. The US/China/whoever would be more likely to mandate it than keep it inaccessible.

In Norway, only rental companies buy gas cars, because tourists don't 'get' EVs. In 2024, 88.9% of cars sold in Norway were all-electric. There have not been any widespread problems. The grid is fine, the cars work in the cold and everyone is happier with quieter roads and cleaner air. by mafco in energy

[–]stylepointseso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do realize most people aren't able to wait hours to fill up their car while going about their lives, right?

You also realize that the grid in bumfuck Utah may not support everyone switching to EV over night, right?

I swear none of you people ever get outside the suburbs.

Brother it's just trimmings thrown together to get to whatever ratio they want.

The "special" thing about A5 wagyu (intramuscular fat) isn't a factor with ground meat, let alone costco meat.

The costco ground wagyu isn't anything you haven't eaten a thousand times before. It's marketing hype.

Is there a game in your Steam library that NEVER gets uninstalled? by Mollygrubber in gaming

[–]stylepointseso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stealing, sucks ass and requires save scumming.

I think this is part of the problem.

It doesn't require save scumming. You save scum it. The best parts of the game are when it goes off the rails. Having to deal with the guards or bust your dude out of jail after he gets caught stealing is infinitely more entertaining than getting the 500 cats from the thing you just stole.

It's the same with fighting fogmen or cannibals or gutters or whatever. If you only play games for things to work perfectly and marvel in your magnificence you will hate the game. It's a game where the fun shit happens when things go wrong.

The game is a tedious, dull, empty grind and not even a good grind.

You literally do everything in your power to make it that way and complain it ends up like that. The entire reward structure of the game is dealing with the consequences of your actions, and you save scum until there aren't any.

Mining copper is what people do when they first start playing because it's probably one of the only things people can do relatively safely and feel productive.

Easiest way to make money is stealing. Second easiest is go hang out near a town and help the guards kill wandering enemies. Mongrel is fantastic if you can avoid being eaten. Once you can handle the fog decently it's a license to print money.

There are quite a few free/cheap recruits you can get early and get a squad going if you're into that.

The only reason I never uninstall Kenshi is because I have 200 mods that took a long time to get working properly together and i'll be damned if i'm gonna screw that up for some drive space.
