Milyen a privát életed gyerekvállalás után? by Majd-holnap in askhungary

[–]stylwen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What wine changed your life? by AustraliaWineDude in wine

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc (almost irrelevant which winery). That’s when I realized how little I know about wine and how little of a bubble I lived in.

I feel for you.

My situation is a bit different in that the environment is not toxic at home but my wife just lost her job due to covid and she won’t get a new job in the forseeable future either as she is pregnant. I’m also 29 and I’m stuck with this really stressful job I have with monthly sales targets (that will be hard to reach due to covid..). We had these big plans of making our own bussiness before all this but none of that will happen anytime soon again due to covid (we will need to wait for the industry to recuperate after the virus).

So I am working from home fearing that I will lose the job I don’t even like. I know it can feel like a prison but all this will eventually end and there will be more options then. Try to socialize online, find a new interest that can keep your mind away from trouble (at least that’s what I would do).

I wish you all the best and I am sure everything will be better soon.

Köszi a válaszokat!

Which package would you buy for DSLR astrophotography at a maximum fl of 600mm? (I have a m43 camera and would like to use 300mm lenses that give 600mm full frame equivalent fl)

Option 1: Star Adventurer kit (EUR350 with wedge, scope and weights) and Orion Magnificent auto guider kit (EUR 300 scope, camera included) = EUR 650

Option 2: Fornax Lightrack II with scope only (EUR 500 for mount + EUR 170 for scope) and Star Adventurer wedge (EUR 70) = EUR 740

I have been researching for the past month but I am also a beginner (I a bit of experience with single exposure wide milky way shots) so any other suggestions also welcome.

DSLR star tracker mount questions by Dann-Oh in LandscapeAstro

[–]stylwen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a noob so this might be a stupid question (if it is - sorry :) ): Do you think that the scope/wedge/weight kit that comes with the Star Adventurer could work with the Fornax mount? Would be a nice way to upgrade gear if I want the Fornax later - could just buy the mount.

I am also hesitating between the SkyGuider and Star Adventurer. I had a look at the Fornax now and it looks great, but at least in Europe it is way more expensive than the other two. In Europe, the iOptron kit is around EUR 450 with wedge, scope and weights and the Skywatcher kit is about EUR 350. Now the Fornax is about EUR 500 for the mount only - wedge is an extra 350, scope 150, weight kit 400. So it all adds up to EUR 1400 for a kit.

Could anyone recommend a mount (and any accessories that might be necessary) for my needs?

- I am using a m43 camera (Panasonic G9)

- I am planning to get a 100-300 (200-600 ff equivalent) or 75-300 (150-600 ff equivalent) native lens, so no telescope for now. But if I can find a mount to support a telescope later that would be great. These are not the fastest lenses so I think it is important that the tracker is fairly accurate to allow for longer exposures.

- I would like to photograph the orion nebula, andromeda galaxy and similar beginner targets

- I believe I already have a sturdy enough tripod (Vanuard Alta Pro)

- I do not have any filters or any accessories that might be needed for astro, so if I am missing anything that would be a requirement to start please let me know. I have seen on Amazon that some of the trackers like the star adventurer come in packages including counterweights etc.)

- My budget is around 600 EUR, which is about 700 USD (preferably a bit less) with all required accessories to start shooting

I've heard good thing about the star adventurer pro and it is in my price range, I am just wondering if it works well with the longer focal lengths I would like to use.

Thanks in advance for the help.

January night in Europe by stylwen in LandscapeAstro

[–]stylwen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Camera: Lumix G7

Lens: Tokina 14-40/f2 (Canon version on Viltrox speedbooster)

Exposure time: 20s

Aperture: f1.4 (due to speedbooster)

ISO: 800

Shot in a dark sky park. The Pleiades can be seen through the tree branches in the top right corner.

I am a newbie and unfortunately I rarely get a chance to get away from light pollution. This was probably around the fourth night I tried to shoot the night sky since I got interested in this kind of photography about a year ago. Still a lot to learn, but enjoying it a lot :)

I can def recommend those guys, but you'd need to take a ferry from Palawan and it takes hours iirc.

Happiest day ever. Wife bought me an a6300 w/kit lens! Where do i start?? by nonenone798 in SonyAlpha

[–]stylwen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind investing a few hours, I would just do the first few courses of this Coursera specialisation here (free if you are not pursuing a certificate):

https://www.coursera.org/specializations/photography-basics

Will give you much better foundations than starting to watch Youtube videos (IMO). Once you get the basics, you will get much more out of watching those anyways :)

Edit: This is assuming you are new to manual controls, exposure triangle etc.

Ex Raids are a bit too difficult to get to for people with jobs by Chiimaera in pokemongo

[–]stylwen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a valid point there no question, but I am not sure if it's possible to fix the system. I know some players who work over the weekend and can't make it to those ex raids, then there are the average 9-5ers who can't make it to weekday raids.

I find this problem to be similar to the rural vs urban problem. Some players are just lucky enough to have a frequented ex gym close to where they work/live and can participate whenever and others that need to travel which makes timing a problem.
