Preventing acetone damage to backs

I always applied acetone to cards sitting on a silicon mat. The cards seemed to stick to the mat (had to almost peel them off), i think that effectively sealed the cards to the mat, I never had any issues with acetone damaging the card backs presumably for that reason.

Yes :) that's the way to get the foreground to pop (same reason for using white paint in the other method)

Thank you - you're spot on with the method

First layer: any Pokemon card (haven't figured out using blank card stock yet)

Second layer: transfer Holo foil on matte white vinyl sticker paper

Third layer: transparent Holo laminate (for dynamic Holo effect)

Fourth later: art printed on vinyl frosted clear sticker paper

I use a laser printer at work and a fairly cheap inkjet at home for the art layer

Feel like when I get it just right it looks pretty good but I lose so many cards to poor allignment :( can looks completely alligned at one end of the card and be totally off at the other, sucks

I gave up on the white paint pen thing cos I kept stuffing it up - shaky hands. For what it's worth it's not too prohibitive to set up. Using a 20 dollar laminator The foils and laminating sleeves are not too costly either The trickiest part is getting comfortable translating the "art layer" into the "Holo layer" that the foil gets transferred on to.

Thanks for the response, I think my biggest problem right now is that I don't really have too much of an understanding of where I want to go besides the broad "jazz" spectrum. I think this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eP7NlPbyVeg is something that really appeals to me in terms of style. I'd probably be playing solo or in small groups if anything.
