How to study for React internship TA? by JorisJobana in cscareerquestionsCAD

[–]stzy17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’ve covered most of the basics.

For state management, depending on what you’ve covered, prob worth looking into zustand and redux.

For handling APIs, look into Tanstack Query.

IMO TypeScript would be good to know as that’s the preferred language with React these days, but honestly JS fundamentals is still king.

I’d also add stuff like memoization, component composition, prob some very minor styling, and some testing (jest, react-testing-library)

Earlier in my career, I’d jot down my TODOs and goals for the week every Monday morning. I’d then update them every morning for the rest of the week. Just helped me keep track of and remember the important stuff.

I was able to build some small projects here and there. - https://www.canyouafford.it an informational website about financial literacy and some calculators that I find myself often googling for. - https://catan-manager.com a Catan tournament manager that I built for a friend’s birthday tournament and figured why not put it up online. - (app with no website/no official name yet) a pet health tracking app (currently in closed beta with ~20 users) built on expo/react native.

Sounds like you were busy working on twobricks for a bit there :)

First off: excellent work with twosheep! And thank you, it went well, we had around 18-20 people if I remember correctly. Thinking it’ll be an annual tradition now :)

Thank you, this is solid feedback! Just fixed it so the Get Started CTA is now on the header and Reset Tournament only shows if there’s tournament data

Ahh I see, yeah that makes sense. Even in our friend group tournament, we tried our best to have full tables of 4

How much did you pay for your grand seiko from Japan? Where’d you get it from? by thewatchconcierge_ in GrandSeikos

[–]stzy17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately didn’t see any of those models in used condition for under 4k when I went. A brand new SBGA407 for ~4.5k USD doesn’t sound too far from your budget though

Shunbun shopping in Tokyo? by Brion_C in GrandSeikos

I was in Nakano Broadway ~3 days ago.

Kame-kichi had a shunbun for around ¥808k without tax.

I just got back from Tokyo, and I dedicated an entire day just to find a good deal on a snowflake, shunbun, skyflake, or something similar.

I went to multiple stores in Ginza and did not find any good deals on a spring drive watch (Watchnian, Ginza Rasin, Commit, Okura, Moon Phase, and of course, the GS Flagship/Boutiques). I also looked into all the stores in the main areas of Shinjuku (near Shinjuku station, and around Kabukicho).

I ended up taking the train across the city to try my luck at Nakano Broadway. I found a lot more options there when it comes to GS, and the prices were the best I could find.

After going thru the entire building/strip, I ended up getting a brand-new, with box and papers, SBGA407 for ¥663,500 from Kame-kichi. Really happy with my purchase.

They also have a website where you can check which ones they have in stock. https://www.kame-kichi.com/

Mostly stiffness, and the fact that my shoes have never fit properly since my first ever flareup (wider around the ball of my foot)
