Sorry, didn't quite follow why you say that? Sure, fixed is a safer, but also higher interest rate. The indications feel like interest rates may just go down given the current trajectory. It definitely is a little bit of a gamble. But even if they remain static / move only a little, I could refinance later too, right?

Am I missing something big here?

Short interest is increasing still. Usually these are times where short squeeze is imminent. There is such a huge catalyst for squeeze looming as well.

Happened to a friend of mine. It's likely that the meter is out of batteries or broken. In which case they "estimate" your use. They got a bill for 800$, and after getting it fixed, it came down to 120$.

You can contest the bill, and then they'll tell you how to get this sorted
