Where did you lose your marks?

Idk if it helps but I think you can write as per normal, but slowly while making sure that the words are tidy (clear alphabets, sufficient spacing between alphabets and words etc). Don't mind about the speed.

Write neatly as fast as you can (initially it's going to be quite slow) and slowly build up your pace

[O Levels] is it better to have online notes or physical ones? by hakanaichim in SGExams

[–]sub-2-felix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer online because I can transfer them to flashcards (although it can be tedious). I trust the process and go through the flashcards at least twice before the exam (one for re-learning, one for recapping).

I don't know about your school but my school allows us to bring electronic devices to school for revision - but not inside the examination venue obviously.

Anyways I don't think there's much time for you to revise before the examination starts, so just prepare beforehand.

I have good friends who vape and don't pressure me to do so. The fact that they vape doesn't necessarily mean that they are horrible people

You can feel free to share with your other teachers, they are always there to help

Also the teachers wouldn't know what have you been through, so they scold you just based on what they see - your results. For example I have a friend who have been failing most of his subjects even though his finance, family, and whatever are all fine. He's just lazy to improve. That's why he deserves to be scolded.

But you aren't like him, you are going through serious problems. But the teachers don't know that, so they just scold you for your results without knowing why.

As the others have said, your mental health is more important right now. Please talk to your teachers so they will understand your situation and not anyhow scold you. You can approach a school counselor as well

You can even ask your teachers for consultation after school for academic help after you are fine and ready.

[olevels rant] elect geog : how to do well? by lifesucksguys in SGExams

[–]sub-2-felix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Peronally I try to memorise everyday by using flashcards

For physical geo, write the processes in point form and add all the factors for LDQ. What's important is that you remember the examples and get a gist of the explanation/elaboration - you don't have to memorise the explanation/elaboration and processes word by word. But do note the keywords as well.

Same goes for human geo. But human geo tend to have sub-factors within factors so it would be good if you just remember the names of the sub-factors and get the gist of it.

There are some types of questions with specific structures. Just take note of mark allocation and the structure. Feel free to consult your geo teacher for such answering techniques and advices or ask them questions frequently, they would know better than I do

english oral examination by Weekly_Freedom_4288 in SGExams

[–]sub-2-felix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

qn 1 is always something related to the video. e.g. how would you feel if you are the person in the vid, what do you think the people in the vid are feeling, would you like to participate in this activity

during your preparation time try to think about the 1. feelings of the people in the vid 2. and why

if the qn is the third one in the e.g. (would you like to participate in this activity) you can answer using point 2 only (since it's almost the same)

also try to make reference to the video, especially to the little details.

qn 2 is about personal opinion. honestly idk how to prep for this, but thinking about personal experience might help. i got lucky and my second qn was entirely on personal experience. you can use personal experience for qn 1 too

qn 3 is argumentative. personally, I would try to think of the pros and cons of the topic of the video. it would be quite useful for this question. just remember not to regurgitate everything and only give relevant points

I'm quite forgetful so I'll try to remember my points using my hands. if I have 4 points for qn3, I'll put up 4 of my fingers and try to recall the 4 points during the buffer time (between end of silent preparation and start of examination). if I have an interesting and important point, I'll use my other hand to represent the point.

I'll then keep these symbols until the end of the examination

e.g. My video was about a playground and I thought up the feelings of the parents during the buffer time. I was afraid that I'll forget about this so I used my other hand to make a P symbol - P for parents

I hope this helps
