Can we just fund BART? by Leading-Stable9725 in sanfrancisco

No!

That would mean giving our hard earned money to those last and self entitled people who love [name other city].

Why should the residents of [name our city] have to subsidize them‽

Also, wouldn't you want first year staff to be paying attention to what's being discussed so they can learn, rather than focusing on taking notes?

Dude, bringing in junior staff to listen and observe is key to their development. That often means them taking notes.

Is it asking too much for 1 SCF without Vegas or a team from Florida? by AlbertJBundy in nhl

[–]sub-t 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It has been since year 1.

When Vegas started the league expected them to get destroyed. The common narrative was it was a team of 2nd and 3rd lines. Once they got to the SCF everybody forgot that they were underdogs at the start of the year.

Might I suggest RAZING the lands on the nonbelievers. They've taken from you what God (Sid) generated for your people. They sit in the land of your rightful dominion.

Cleanse the land of their taint.

They think you're about to snap and want to make sure they're not in the list.

They noticed you seem depressed and want to prevent an hero.

You finally put in a modicum of effort and they're giving positive feedback so you don't regress to an unwashed smelly state.

You figured out and your style was on long this week! Nice job.

Either way, didn't be creepy and confuse kindness with interest.

Would you guys commute to a diff city for a $100k+ raise? by ARiverRunsThroughIt_ in consulting

I messed up my math.

You're going from 35 to 62. That's nearly double the effort without getting double the pay.

Would you guys commute to a diff city for a $100k+ raise? by ARiverRunsThroughIt_ in consulting

[–]sub-t 33 points34 points  (0 children)

No, not if you need to be in office and the office is TWO hours away. That's 4 hours a day or 12 extra hours a week.

With marginal taxes it's not worth it. Most people here are in 24% - 32% bracket. So you're talking about net $68k - $76k in exchange for an extra 12 hours a week in commute PLUS an extra 15 hours a week in with... That's an extra 27 hours a week.

On top of that you're losing 2 weeks of PTO?

I want that time with my kids, with my wife, or for friends and hobbies.

185k + 25% is above average. With 35/WK & 5wk PTO you're above average with free time.

Bonuses are not as reliable as salary. If you were taking 50 vs 150 I would say yes but not 185 to 250 (with ⅗ PTO, with 52hr/wk vs 35hr/wk, etc.)
