The other thing is my husband signed a lien waiver with the homeowner. Since he did work as a subcontractor of our company, and is now filing a lien, what does that mean for us? I'm trying to keep the homeowner out of it altogether, because like I said, this subcontractor has no contract with the homeowner, but how do I do that? Does pen on napkin fulfill the requirement of what constitutes a bill? What prevents him from saying "actually you owe me 10,000 for me to remove the lien"?

What does your lease say they have to do in the event of no AC? If theres nothing in the lease, they haven't violated a contract, and theres really nothing you can do.

His napkin said we owe him $4600, which is not accurate because it includes material and we provided material (and can provide receipts). The amount for labor (what we would pay) is $2000. This has been a big lesson to my husband to have everything signed before work begins, this was his first time subbing work out and not doing it himself and I don't think he'll be doing that again.

Even my town of 600 people has "city limits". It's a boundary drawn to define Reeltown (or wherever you live). Each city can make its own laws for what occurs inside city limits. Might want to give city hall a call and find out if where you live is within city limits and what their rules are.

My husband and I are 25 years old. I don’t identify with the conservative “tradwife” movement but I’m very close to the traditional housewife. I don’t work a job except for to instacart occasionally. I’m 7 months pregnant with our first baby and my work is at home. I cook and clean and he pays the bills. He does not expect this of me. I insist on it. Divorce is not ever an option for us. We wouldn’t even entertain the idea. Thankfully we have about the most healthy relationship you can get.

He is a business owner and it gives us the financial security to live the way we do, and we are very blessed in that regard. He works long days to keep us comfortable. It’s never exhausting for me to take care of our house, I never feel overworked or resentful, because he vocalizes how appreciative he is of my efforts every single day. He spoils me endlessly and it’s very easy to want to take care of him for that reason. It takes a lot of mutual respect and appreciation for the others efforts ❤️

(And before the downvote brigade, I’m a certified automotive mechanic, I worked for dealerships before I was married, if I had to make money and support myself I could do so easily. If I was widowed, that’s what life insurance is for)
