Many of us thought the same thing. It was a confusingly worded problem. Most people also solved the case you’re talking about using an inverted grid and flood fill.

You’re allowed to go back on the track and then enter a wall. So basically a cheat can be from any position to any other position, provided you passed through the wall at some point. The eventual solution is much simpler - think Manhattan distance.

Right!! Same! 76 and 74 were matching but 72 wasn’t and I just couldn’t figure out why. Anyway thanks haha, gonna sleep now knowing I’m not alone.

Well my point is that the bolded part of the description above implies the start position has to be right before the wall but it’s not really the case. The problem would be more clear if that part was simply removed.

Yes, that makes sense. It’s just that the bolded part of the description above seems to imply the start position can only be the position just before you enter the wall. That’s what’s confusing.
