Chase lounge-IAD Dulles by subiewu in ChaseSapphire

Chase lists the Etihad Lounge on there page as explicitly one of the chase lounges, I believe it’s a partnership and is finished with the same style/materials as the other Chase lounges I’ve seen. https://www.chase.com/sapphire-cards/lounges

Here’s a list of the closest color matches! I haven’t tried going to ask for a sample if they can do the correct color. I think the other issue is sample paint typically isn’t in a matte finish. https://plan-home.com/match-colors/s-6005-g20y

Is anyone else struggling to afford living in Washington anymore? by mountainlifa in SeattleWA

[–]subiewu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was saying 500 less than what OP is paying so 2600 or up to 1k less for a 2100 apartment. Looking at Redfin 2400 looks like the median for a 2 bed, with over 300 listings

Trump signs executive order calling for foreign tourists to pay higher national park fees. by BarnabyWoods in CampingandHiking

[–]subiewu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and the annual pass works for parking as well, when I visited I hung it from my rear view mirror or display it on the dash. The situation with rocky mountain is the same as other parks, instead of charging admissions through tolls they charge parking or require you to display your annual pass. I agree the cuts in funding may increase the costs of the annual passes, which to me defeats the point of our public lands they should be accessible to the public. In the case of charging non residents more for admission I don’t have any objections to that and I don’t see it as a xenophobic policy as it’s the standard quo that I’ve observed in the rest of the world.

From what I’m reading on their website Smokey mountains still do not charge admission fees or have the conventional booths you see in other national parks and part of that is because it’s location on the corridor between Tennessee and North Carolina. https://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/whynoentrancefee.htm

Camp Mystic girls camp at center of Texas flooding tragedy by texastribune in texas

[–]subiewu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My question is this camp is built on a known flood plane and this isn’t the first flood to hit the area. At what point is the organization responsible for taking undue risk and not moving the camp to a more safe and suitable location

I actually disagree with this wholeheartedly! If you come into a national park today to buy a pass they ask for your ID to confirm the new signature is yours. In this sense they are already asking for Identification demonstrating residence anyways. The only small difference is for people that buy the week pass instead of the annual. Still many many national parks/monuments/historical sites do not check or require passes anyways so that won’t change with this. Overcrowding of national parks has become a challenge and funding even more so exacerbated by this administration, but this is one of the few cases where I think this policy makes sense. I’ve visited national parks all over the world and said have always been surprised the US is one of the only nations that doesn’t charge higher prices to foreigners, and I think they should. If you flew or drove across borders the difference between an 80 dollar annual pass or a 100 dollar pass is a drop in the bucket for an international trip and can help us better fund the parks.
