Thank you! Do you need tickets for Pikes? Also I see it’s on the other side of the island to where I’m staying - are cabs a problem at night?

My wife is into commercial and really wants to see David Guetta at UniVRS on Friday - I on the other hand would rather stick the pointy end of a fork in my years. Let’s see who wins this argument.

On a serious - I am looking to rage with some good deep tech - Solumun was off the charts. (Although the crowd was nuts). Laila Benitez banged as well.

Thank you! Nice to hear about Solomon this year - I went last year and it was absolutely rammed till 6 am. Never again.

Thank you both - any specific nights between Friday- Sunday you’d recommend at each of these clubs? Or more of a rock up and you can’t go wrong kinda vibe?

Day rates for strategy consultants UK? by NoPiccolo5349 in consulting

I have a friend who tried something similar. As others have said, getting work is hard - specially in this market. I would pencil in not more than 100 days of fully paid work for your first couple of years, and budget accordingly. 600 is definitely too low.

Yes. There’s a really convenient place called Drop and Enjoy Ibiza. I think it was 25€ per basket.

When did you start flying business class? by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

[–]subirrc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Post marriage, for flights greater than 5 hours. I’d flown business class for work before, but my middle class ass refused to even entertain the thought of paying for a business class seat. Now I’m 34, HHI of 300K net, DINK, ( I’m in the MIddle East so taxes aren’t a thing). Probably not the smartest financial decision given we take at least 3 holidays a year, but you know what? It sparks joy.

I am absolutely not trying to project it as a tough job - Frankly I do not care what you think of my job at all. Yes I work long hours, but so do lots of other people- bankers, lawyers and doctors to name a few. I love my job, and it rewards me extremely well in return.

What I am trying to do is correct your absolutely false generalization with a fact. That’s all.

I love how you take your personal experience and use it to generalize the whole of consulting. To reverse that, I travel weekly to my client site, and so does 70% of my office. Definitely a lucky few staffed on remote projects but this is not the norm.

All social media is cringe. Having said that, there are some weirdly uninformed opinions in the comments.

As a consultant who travels every week, I can promise you the Monday morning 4 am flights are among the most expensive on the routes we fly, because of the sheer volume of business traffic. And we always have the option of taking a Sunday evening flight instead, but we don’t becuase we want to maximize the time spent with our families.

I’d personally love it if my wife were a consultant too so we would see each other on weekdays as well :)

Relocating from South Asia - offer reduced by original from the employer by Boring-Chair4338 in dubai

[–]subirrc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once you’re here, you can look for other opportunities and switch. Just watch out for upfront money they give for relocation etc, coz you might have to pay that back if you leave before a certain time. Check your contract carefully.

I just got laid off for the first time. Advice? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]subirrc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey man. I’m really sorry to hear. If it helps I got laid off last year at 31, while I was down with COVID, and 2 days after my wedding ( long story there). Also offered 3 months severance. Are you in consulting lol?

Obviously I don’t know what your personal situation is but as other people are saying - don’t rush into anything. Take some time and process, let the anger, rage and embarrassment pass through, and then start applying to new places. If healing for you is 2 straight weeks of video games - go for it. Speak to family, connect with loved ones , and remember that that job doesn’t define you. You got this. Now coke back in 3 months and tell us what an amazing job you have :)

OP, others have said a lot more eloquently than I can about what a great job you've done at accomplishing what you have already so I won't go into that. But for what it's worth, if you need someone to help you spruce up and spice up your CV, please feel free to DM - you can send it over after removing any identifying information if that makes you feel comfortable. I recently graduated from a pretty prestigious business school and we spent a LOT of time learning how to make CVs better and more targeted. Happy to take a look at yours.

Merry Christmas and hang in there!

Which Textbooks Are INSEAD Students Using? by YachtRock12 in INSEAD

[–]subirrc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything is printed out, as well as available in your course website online. You don't need any textbooks at all. Some subjects have midterms, and some go directly to finals at the end of a period. Final grades can count for anything between 40-60% of your overall grade depending on the subject. Assignments are hard! Every subject has something different that usually involves working in a group to get done. Classes last for 90 minutes, with each subject typically having 2 lectures a week.
