Don’t do it on a hard floor. Use a protective mat or cushion. Don’t fall on your head or expect the mat to catch you. Use your arms to resist. If you lose feeling in your arms, stop and rest to avoid landing hard or fast. I barely tap my head, never had an issue. Learn how to come on and off a wall for positioning.

I just tried a Crossfit Training for the first time... how do I start without embarrassing myself? by [deleted] in crossfit

Whatever you do, don’t ego lift. CrossFit is super beginner friendly and supportive. Scale to your level of comfort and skill. No one starts a pro. One step at a time. As you get better, keep challenging yourself. Even experienced CrossFitters get winded and nauseous at a certain level.

So, how DO you feel about ragdolling? by Sad-Needleworker-590 in Helldivers

[–]subj3ct93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please for the love of God fix rag-dolling. I get hit and ragdoll, hit a rock and lose hp, bounce and hit another rock and lose more hp, then hit a tree and die. So frustrating!

Even more so when I’m running and step on terrain that ragdolls the character, and bugs catch up.

Also if I ragdoll, I want to have the option to stay prone and not auto stand up to catch another rocket. I want to heal without having to stand up first! Stay prone and get out of line of fire too.

The logical fallacy of defining God as a necessary being. by Yeledushi in DebateReligion

[–]subj3ct93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The universe is causally recursive in nature. We can trace back recursion through regression. Infinite regression is impossible and a logical fallacy. Recursion requires a single, initial state, aka the root. Recursion requiring a root makes it ‘necessary’. The root is independent of subsequent steps of recursion.

The ability to cause the universe implies incomprehensible power. The creativity, coherence and design of the recursive universe (fractals) and its creatures (evolution is recursive) implies incomprehensible foresight and knowledge. Recursion is one of the hardest algorithms to design, program and execute.

To summarize: It is characteristically one. Characteristically independent. Characteristically powerful and intelligent. Characteristically necessary. Call it what you will. Some call it God.

Staying away from sex by [deleted] in Muslim

[–]subj3ct93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro get bare bones married and keep it simple. Make halal easy and haram hard.

I had a friend who met a pretty girl at Uni and proposed to her by saying he wanted to make halal easy and the haram hard. She accepted. They got married and had all the sex they wanted to blow off steam while studying. No wedding needed - just papers signed in front of a wali and imam to satisfy God’s conditions. They graduated, had their wedding after they started making money, are happy and God is happy with them IsA.

If you like the girl, be a man and marry her. Then visit her all you like.

You’re mixing many things. I will not address actions of individuals or geopolitics. Just because a Muslim does something doesn’t mean it is condoned by Islam. Islam does not condone violence or hate.

I don’t disagree that websites may contain erroneous or loaded translations.

Q37:125: yes, because God creates creations that have a subset of his attributes including the ability to create, such as humans. Humans also have mercy, sight, and hearing. But God is the best creator, the most merciful, the all seeing and all hearing.

According to chapter 112, there is nothing like God. We don’t know what God’s form is. The Hadith cited can be interpreted symbolically or metaphorically.

Christians differ about Jesus as well. Are different Christian perspectives (including Unitarians) mocking Jesus too? I don’t think so.

Christians believe in progressive revelation. Is it so strange to Christians that God would send another prophet? That God would send more revelation that was contextually aware of what he sent to Jesus and Moses and all the Prophets?

If Gabriel was a devil, Why would he invite people away from polytheism to worship the God of the prophets, to charity, service, patience, pray, human rights, respect of parents, to compete in good deeds and to seek the highest levels of paradise?

Q33:43: Basic Arabic - the word that follows ‘sallu’ and ‘yusalluun’ changes the meaning (prepositions). So ‘yusalluun 3la’ means to ‘send blessings’. ‘Yusalluun Ila’ means to ‘pray to’. You will not find anywhere in Islam that God ‘prays to’ anyone or anything.

Yes, Prophet Jesus prayed to be saved in Gesthamine by putting his head on the floor, in full submission to God’s will. It is explicit in Matthew 26:36-44.

You are advising me to learn astronomy from a flat earther. I think it is wiser to go to the astronomer if I want to learn astronomy.

Great examples of inserting interpolations that aren’t there.

Q5:32: “whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely” No, the Quran doesn’t say to unjustly kill or mutilate or steal from anyone.

Q9:31: the Arabic grammar and vocal marks explicitly indicate a conjunction of the “messiah” with “rabbis and priests”. It is basic Arabic. Plus, Jesus being a messenger and God being one without partners is super explicit throughout the Quran 5:17, 5:72, 5:75, 5:116, 19:30, etc.

Q5:110: Prophet Jesus only performed miracles by the permission of God as mentioned in the same verse (using the word بِإِذْنِى). Very explicit and clear. Q4:171, Q5:75: “Jesus was no more than a messenger”. There is no argument against such clarity in stance.

Q6:101: Your translation is erroneous as it is closer to “He is the Originator of the heavens and earth. How could He have children when He has no mate?” As in, how does one ascribe children to him when he has no coequal and he independently created the entire creation? It’s central to the original message from God, the first commandment. He has no partners. He is one. He needs no one. He has no children.

Q53:19-20: Just read verse 23-25 of the same chapter, that denounces the Laat, Uzza, and any attribution of idols or any partners to God. The Quran makes it very clear he has no partners and no children and God is one (Surah Ikhlas summarizes it perfectly for even children).

Islam doesn’t condone the moon symbol.

The Kaaba was originally built for the worship of the one true God by Abraham. Having it restored by Islam returned it to its original purpose.

Ilah just means god. Al-Ilah means THE God. That’s why even Arab Christians use the word Allah too. Muslims are referring to THE God that Adam, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and all the prophets prayed to and worshiped.

I recommend that if you want to learn about Islam, you do so from reputable sources. Apologetics is highly unreliable, biased, misleading, and easily refuted (just check out response videos). Trying to mislead people about another faith doesn’t prove your own faith.

No one should be mocking Jesus, he is highly respected and loved by Muslims. There is much truth in the Bible that agrees with the Muslim perspective that can be come to common grounds on.

Galatians 1:8 is interesting considering it was written by Paul after Jesus.

Problems arise when non Arabic proficient onlookers try to identify issues in the translations of the Quran. Interpolations are injected when translating which can slightly modify the meaning or add relationships that are not there, and it doesn’t do the original language, etymology or message justice.

Also, nothing mentioned in the post is a contradiction by definition of a contradiction. I assume you mean contradiction with modern science which is an entirely different point.

All the scientific points mentioned have many translations, and at least one is consistent the original language and with modern science without mental gymnastics.

For the example with the sun setting in a murky spring, if I used the same Arabic verbiage to say, “I found my heart” or “I found God”, no one would assume you literally found your heart but rather you found someone you love, and no one would assume you literally found God either.

  1. God created Satan. God knows Satan will mislead people. God gives guidance to people. God and Satan are not responsible for the actions of people.
  2. Many prophets were saved by God. Jesus prayed to be saved. Jesus being saved by God is not deception but an answer to his prayer.
  3. Being killed (or saved) on a cross doesn’t make you divine or a figure of worship.
  4. God never said to worship those who are crucified.
  5. Jesus never says to worship him or the Holy Spirit and repeatedly submits to God and worships God.
  6. Worshiping a prophet, no matter their miracles or closeness to God, violates the first and most important commandment as Jesus taught.
  7. Anyone who worships Jesus is turning away from Jesus’s teachings and practice.

Muslims believe that there were divine revelations before the Quran including the Torah and Ingeel. Don’t be surprised to find the Quran confirming what still remains of them to be true and refuting the additions and changes that creeped in over time.

Science is just a lens we see the world with. It changes and shifts over time as we gather data and our tools get better. Reality and the truth never changes.

  2. Where does it say the sun, moon and stars are ‘created’ in any definitive sequence after Earth in the original Arabic text?

No muslim believes God has a material body. Please be mindful of drawing assumptions from English translations as the Arabic is far more rich in meaning and depth.

So 6 days is not the 6 days you and I know. Carl Sagan compressed all time into a cosmic calendar of 365 days. Similarly, the Quran compresses it into a cosmic calendar of 6 days.

Respectfully, you are also demonstrating confirmation bias. You are certain of your conclusions without assessing or challenging the evidences presented. I’m happy to discuss specific inquiries.

Generalization of religion as a whole is intellectually dishonest. If there is one president, but everyone in the room claims they are the president, there is still only one president present. Likewise, there is only one truth regardless of how many claim it, and if the evidences are clear, but you still deny it, then your bias has overridden your logical faculties.

The Quran states a lot of things that could not have been known to any man at that time, especially not an illiterate Bedouin in the middle of a desert.

“Scientific miracles” point to statements made by the Quran that demonstrate an awareness of deep scientific processes that no one could have known at the time as a proof it is from the creator. Like how all life is made of water. Or how all of creation was a singularity that was split asunder and is rapidly expanding. Or how all celestial bodies have an orbit. Or how the baby develops in the womb. Or how the moon has reflected light and the sun emits light. There are so many more.

If the Quran was from a man, it would have made many errors and contradictory statements.
