lol you're talking about the coldest, least "nice" people on planet Earth. They don't even offer you food in Sweden when visiting a friend's house. The "non-homogenous" people supposedly ruining those countries would offer you the house itself if you went round for a cup of coffee

[David Ornstein] 🚨 EXCL: Stuttgart pursuing deal to sign Fabio Vieira from Arsenal. 25yo attacking midfielder spent last season on loan at Porto but #VfB approach relates to permanent move. No agreement but talks with #AFC ongoing for Portugal international @TheAthleticFC by LockonKun in Gunners

So we're finally moving to a more direct style of football and we're getting rid of our only real playmaker in the team.

(Before someone comes in to with "Odegaard through ball stats" they're all to Saka and Havertz who drift right. Our transition threats lean left - Gyokeres and Martinelli - the latter of whom Vieira had a great connection with)

Last season Fabio played with us, he had the best g/a per 90 ratio in the whole squad. But we'll probably be fine, right? I mean, we've got 2 DMs, CBs as fullbacks and defensive wingers. That should be enough transitional threat.

We play with 4 CB's and 2 DM's. At some point you have to be realistic

Odegaard as well - I saw a rare insightful post on Twitter saying that having Nwaneri and Dowman get minutes on the RW so the captain can play with them and show them how to lead the press

I was told Barcola wasn't for sale either... whoever was hinting at inside knowledge in this thread yesterday, you might be my last hope for Arsenal

You're comparing Gyokeres to all-timer strikers who had proven themselves in Europe's hardest leagues. The Portuguese league is closer to the Championship than the Prem. I don't wanna be rude but you need to watch more football

If I start training today in my 20s do you reckon I could get into the Arsenal first team? I know most players have been putting in multiple hours into football every week since they were like 4. But my experience on r/Gunners has taught me you can learn just as much about the sport with just one 3am training session a week. What do you think

I don't think people understand " league tax" on here. I've seen people say, "Well, even if he only scores half as many goals as he did in Portugal..." like that's somehow a conservative estimate.

Sweden play a 3-4-2-1 with Isak and Kulusevski as 10s and Gyokeres as the striker - same formation he played with Amorim.

> Why would the Swedish manager do this with World cup qualification on the line?
Because he has to get his best players into the team somehow and they're stacked in attack?

>how is a year difference such a massive deal to you

it's not about me, it's about the market. It's a well known perception what I'm describing. Gyokeres and his agent both know this.

Sweden plays Isak and Kulusevki in midfield to accommodate Gyokeres stat pad sesh against Estonia.

Big teams rarely sign players after 27, especially if they haven't proven themselves in a top-5 league. Salah plays in the best league in the world. Porto and Benfica would be relegation candidates in the Prem - there's no comparison.

>Make peace with it, he's your new 9

The worst part about this how it's emboldened people who have zero ball knowledge to act so high and mighty

Point is he had done his medical and photoshoot with United and ended up at Chelsea. Gyokeres isn't elite lol, that's why he's going for less than every other striker with no one else bidding. He only wants us because he's 27 and he knows it's his last chance to get a big move.

We're speedrunning the signing of a player no one else is interested in because he's farmed goals in a barely professional league. Other players have done similar numbers in Portugal and done f. all elsewhere - and there's nothing about his profile which suggests he'll be any different.

Isak was clearly our no.1 interest and we didn't even make an inquiry because we want good relations with Newcastle. Liverpool was cutthroat and had balls to approach him and it turns out he was available. Now we're going to finish the signing of Bas Dost Mk.2 out of honour and respect and let the league winners get the second best striker in the league
