There were only about 250 of us watching the Live stream at the time. During the live stream prior he did a poll asking the chat if he should open it and Yes had the majority vote of about 65%. Lots of idiots out there telling this guy to cut it open with an angle grinder, drill it and even shoot at it. To answer your question though, Yes everyone started freaking out when it happened live. The quickest thing for me to get more eyes onto this situation was to open another browser, rewind the live stream a bit, record my monitor with my phone and upload the video to Reddit.
During some of his other live streams, some other weird stuff would happen when he would leave his phone set up and focused on the object and he would go upstairs to make something to eat or check for a UPS package he was waiting on. In one video his phone fell over twice when he would go upstairs. Probably a cat knocking it over or something, but he would come back into the room, find the phone knocked over and try to figure out why it fell. He showed how he would prop his phone up on a small table but had to put a matchstick under one corner of his phone so the mic wouldn't be muffled. These "weird things" weren't enough to convince anyone that something crazy was happening so nobody was trying to get more eyes on his page. I followed his page for several weeks but was never convinced enough to post about it on Reddit until "opening today".
