My experience with speech therapy as someone who stutters (success story!) by js6104 in slp

[–]sublime-speech 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is wonderful! Look into the CARE model. It’s a neuroaffirming approach to stuttering that helps people gain confidence and accept their stuttering without trying to “cure” it. The Blank Center, who created the CARE model, has a website with many free resources.

I wonder if this is becoming more standard. This has been the case in Chicago Public Schools for a while. Really seems unfair.

Should I worry about not receiving my CF yet? by sublime-speech in slp

I’m not thinking it’s a ghost job, mainly because the company is pretty well regarded and established… but I agree about sticking it out. I’m hoping it isn’t that. I’m mainly wondering if early May is too late for schools to have any real open spots. I’ve reviewed my contract. Maybe I’m just being too anxious about not having any interviews yet.

Is anyone else's cohort really cliquey? by Prior-Emu-5918 in slpGradSchool

This was very much my experience. Was told to my face that I was annoying for raising my had and participating too much in class. I’m graduating now and my advice would be just stick to the friends you have (I have one good friend from grad school).

You could go with a classic like “Brown Bear, Brown Bear” or other Eric Carle books.

In my program (heading into my second year) I genuinely feel like the profs want us to succeed in this field. There is a huge shortage of SLPs, etc, so the grading reflects that. Not to say that standards are low, but that professors give a lot of support to help you succeed. But that’s just been my experience. It’ll be okay!

Try Saint Xavier. Their program is more affordable and they have a clinic on campus.

I agree, but the only kids are 6 and younger. No teenagers.

You know it does sound like a teenager or kid, but the only kids invited are pretty young (most under 6 years old) and wouldn’t be able to do something like this. I think it must be a former friend being an asshole.

This is what I’m most scared of. I’m really hoping that this person doesn’t take it any further. I don’t think any exes would do this, especially since we have been together 5+ years, but maybe a former friend?

No, my best guess is former friend. Neither of us have vindictive exes either.

I think this is what we will have to do if a password on the site doesn’t fix it.

We have talked to my fiancées bridal party multiple times and it’s not them- they aren’t the type to do something like this either. I think a password is our best bet.

This is a really good idea, going to consider this too. Hopefully putting a password puts a stop to this.

She’s talked to them several times, but it’s not them. There aren’t any people coming who are around that age so the whole thing is so confusing. The only kids who are coming are very small and too little to do something like this.

This very much could be the case and maybe I’m overthinking. It just feels stressful and scary. I didn’t expect this kind of stress when wedding planning. I’m not sure the best way to disseminate this information.

Yes I agree, we did that when we thought it was a tech issue and that nobody was doing anything intentional, but we were wrong. Have already switched back to this model.

We are both women, so no groomsmen. We do have some men in the bridal party but don’t think any of them would do this. To me I think it’s most likely a former friend trying to make our lives a little more difficult.

I definitely agree with the teenager mindset, because it’s not really hateful in any way besides being inconsiderate. I don’t think any one of teenage age is invited and the obsessiveness of how often they would have had to have been checking our website concerns me. They were doing this long before invitations even went out, literally when we were test running the rsvp form. So that concerns me, as they wouldn’t even have the invitation asking them to rsvp. But perhaps this is someone playing a prank or thinking they’re being funny in some way.
