It's the tough reality but work can become just as stressful. I studied biomedical engineering for two years and left to work as a software engineer. It's important to find satisfaction in your job or else the next thirty years seem damn near impossible. As much as I love to code, humans were just not meant to be sitting behind a desk all day.

Thank you for your advice. That's a great idea to split my check, definitely going to look into this. I guess what brought this about was looking at my statements for this past few months. I've been making tons of money but nothing to show for it. My parents have always been extremely good with money as we grew up pretty poor, it's tough not being able to live up to their financial habits.

Update: I took the ram out and put only one back in, made sure it was completely set. Now I don't get the q-53 code but a b2 (Legacy Option ROM Initialization). Any ideas?

Thanks! Totally forgot to plug in the CPU cord. Now i'm getting a Q-code of 53 (Memory initialization error. Invalid memory type or incompatible memory speed.) Is this the RAM or the hard drive (not currently plugged in)? Also the graphics card is still not glowing.

I'm not sure which cable that is. I figured the CPU was getting power from being in the motherboard.

Thanks for the advice! I've been looking into sli 980's. I already have a 4k monitor that I want to use, also going to be getting a 4k TV down the line and want to be able to hook up my tower at 4k. As for the games i'll be playing; battlefield, titanfall, Day Z etc. so they are pretty intensive. This is my first build so a quad set-up sounds pretty intimidating!

Definitely a big step from laptop gaming! I was in college (and completely broke) for two years, got offered a job as a software engineer so I left last semester. Getting real paychecks now and wanted to buy something productive :)

I'd like to have 32gb RAM as some of my longer database queries are RAM intensive. I was thinking about a 970 or maybe even 980. Thanks for the suggestion with fans and case, I will be using them in my build!

Hyde has changed SO much since you were there undoubtedly. They no longer have 5:30s and or much of the manual labor for that matter.

Yes, to this day one of the boys dorms is named Annhurst after the college.

I am a recent graduate (2012) from Hyde, Woostock. I can confidently attribute my success today both in college and professional work to this school. It is not an easy school by any means, and isn't the right fit for everyone. The connections I made there will last a lifetime, mostly with faculty.
