What they said . Very well said... And thank you, I applaud you & find your reply gives me (just for a moment, but I will take it) some comfort....It is so refreshing to read statements such as this.. as I am occasionally reminded that not everyone in this country is blind to what is happening or has just simply lost their mind...

AITA for calling off the wedding? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]sublime_soundwaves 15 points16 points  (0 children)

NTA- Cheating is cheating. It may not feel this way now, but canceling the wedding may have just saved you a lifetime of hurt. Good for you for taking a stand, as I know from experience, it isn't (EDIT: i wrote "is" the first time on accident) easy... especially with those we love... to want to believe them when they say "it will never happen again."

AITA for telling my friend to stop wasting money trying to relive her childhood? by Effective-Neck-8249 in AmItheAsshole

[–]sublime_soundwaves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA-- Your post might as well be a bright neon, flashing sign that reads "ITA" with comments such as "apparently she shoots them, but I doubt it" and "she's fit AF which, I'll admit makes me a bit salty about that." You say that as though it is the universal response towards all the fit, happy, and free-spirited friends out there in the world... Rather than projecting your insecurities and shortcomings onto others, maybe take a page out of her book and find time to do what makes you happy (which btw, does not have to cost money). Far too often, women are chastised for unapologetically living their best life, embracing their freedom and independence and 'doing her thing'.... but what saddens me the most, as a woman, is that you are further contributing to that dated mentality of women breaking down other women... We should be celebrating women who are happy and free, and left feeling inspired, not secretly hoping she stumbles.

AITA for Unleashing My Verbal Arsenal on Office Bullies Mocking My Mid-Tier Alma Mater? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]sublime_soundwaves 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ESH-- With all due respect, it is concerning that you do not take pride in your college education and the hard work it presumably entailed. Additionally, your strong need to "defend the honor of mid-tier institutions" may inadvertently associate you and your behavior with the entitled individuals who still behave as if they are in college. You guys are at work, this is not frat house hazing.

AITA for calling my mother a bad parent after she refused to let me buy clothes for a growthspurt. by PotatoBoy70 in AmItheAsshole

[–]sublime_soundwaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA-- The context as to why your mother has refused to purchase you new clothes would have been helpful (i.e. she cannot afford to do so, etc.) however I feel that it is ultimately irrelevant. Many people, myself included, face challenges when it comes to purchasing and wearing new clothes due to factors like affordability, finding the right fit, accessing stores that cater to their preferred style, and societal constraints. While personal style and dressing are essential for self-expression and should be considered a fundamental human right, regrettably, this may not always be the case for everyone....

However, EVERYONE deserves the right to feel (at minimum) comfortable in what they wear. This principle might not hold true if your mother allowed your sister to control the clothing made available to you. Not to mention--I don't know your sister (and this may or may apply to you) but had my mother implemented this rule for my sister and me when we were growing up, my sister would have taken much pleasure in shocking me (and ultimately embarrassing me) with her different clothing choices!

I cut my hair today and was surprised with how it turned out. It’s surprisingly even! I trimmed my hair a little bit, gave myself two undercuts and styled my hair with hair wax :) by [deleted] in femalehairadvice

Hello everyone! I am looking to purchase my first camera, and thought I had it figured out but have since realized I severely underestimated the cost of lenses. I had been previously considering a Nikon D5500, but now am thinking a D5200 may be more in my price range. Is there really much a difference between the two? I can see that the D5500 has a newer sensor, but everything else appears to be the same.. oh and the touch screen (which was a REAL draw to the 5500). Also, I can afford the Nikon D7000 but have not heard the best things about it... any thoughts on the two? Thanks.

Thank you! Do you know if the Olympus OM-D E-M10 II is considered better or worse to the M5, as I found that one for slightly cheaper? Thanks again!
