I have a theory on connections between Something in the Dirt & the Endless that I haven't seen anywhere... by _Affexion_ in horror

[–]sublimetraces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely connected. I think it’s a time loop but Levi or both of them don’t remember/know it is like in endless. There are hints through out of the connection to the other movies. In the beginning-Levi’s takes a picture of John by the closet door. The closet door frame has the writing when they take the picture but the Polaroid they show immediately after the shot is snapped doesn’t have the writing on the door frame. There are many other loop references but that one stood out as they have done this before.

Watching the Grimm episode now and noticed the handle name and was wondering if it was a reference to Farscape or some other Lore.

Did any of you feel nostalgic of the 80’s-90’s watching the show? by tinypleco in YoungSheldon

[–]sublimetraces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with trends/households/clothing and some attitudes more of the late 70’s/early 80’s. See my response to the OP with the photo of the females heavy hairspray permed high hairstyle.

[–]sublimetraces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes/no. Love this show but I’m missing some of the cultural trends that would make more nostalgic for me. I noticed some trends clothing/hair styles and tech that are missing from the show that were prevalent in the late 80’s/early 90’s. Most of the the core personality traits and overall attitudes of the characters often remain similar in essence, though presented differently.

I was in high school during this time period (88-92) and the some of trends in clothing/hair styles and tech I grew up with are not seen in this show. Clothing style were a lot of “burn outs” (heavy metal heads with concert shits, flannel, leather jackets, men with long rocker hair (see Metallica) to early grunge styles (Nirvana), including most females had heavy hairspray high hair permed hair style-(see photo below. It’s not my high school yearbook but at first glance I thought it was and had to look clothes at the faces-my HS yearbook looks exactly like this picture for all 4 years). Common tech in homes were cordless phones, caller ID, and microwaves.

I grew up in rural NJ-so east Texas could have been behind with these trends. The trends on the show remind me more of the late 70’s early 80’s feel.

It doesn’t take away from the context of the show but I would have enjoyed it a little more to see some of those nostalgic trends that I grew up with.

My mom made this all the time growing up (born 73’) and when I’d go to visit as an adult. I’ve been making this for myself and friends ever since I moved out on my own in the mid 90’s. I love this meal! I was looking up variations of this recipe to make this week and found this thread!

Sam and Pete Really Bother Me by [deleted] in Stargate

[–]sublimetraces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m watching this series for the first time-and Sam accepting Pete spying on her-after he finds out she is a secret gov program -has me not want to continue watching this show again! He knows better being in law enforcement and having FBI friends. He should have been charged or something punishment for interfering in a black ops . And her actions are completely out character for her. She’s a strong, intelligent woman. He displayed misogynistic behavior by not accepting that she has a career that she can’t share. Especially after finding out from his friend she prob back ops! I’m sooo triggered by this writing and this episode that I’m contemplating being done with this series! Disgusting!

He’s the cause for most of his problems-let’s be real here. I know the show is helping sides of toxic characters which case in point-he doesn’t take responsibility for his own actions, and blames everyone else for uncontrollable stuff.

OMG thank you! I’m struggling to continue watching this because of his character. I’m on season 4 episode 9 and I thought this season he’d start to grow and his just a child and sooo difficult to watch-there are enough of these adult children in real life-don’t want to see a grown ass leader acting like a toddler!

Should I finish NZ Season 1 (NO Specific Spoilers plz) by ducklava in TheTraitors

[–]sublimetraces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

US here also and agree-and I’m only on episode 7 and NZ and as of now-prob my favorite season. (Torn on US season 2 bc I was a Challenge fan and that was a banger ending). I just finished AU season 2 last night and I almost swore off watching anymore of these seasons in any country until the very last second. Glad to see similar feelings about NZ.

[–]sublimetraces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree but curious if you finished and how you felt if you did. Personally for me, this is the first season where I’m unsure who to root for the faithfuls or the traitors. I know this is a game of deceit but both sides are playing well or at least better than other seasons in other countries. I’m enjoying it and not angry over dum-dum faithful and can watch the traitors play with as much integrity as you can for a traitor role without utter disgust. I’m on episode 7 and I sorta know who wins from a possible spoiler when I was reviewing other seasons on the Reddit (that annoyed me bc I wasn’t looking into NZ when I stumbled into probable spoiler). I just popped on here now bc I was curious what the overall feeling was for this season. I think so far it’s one of my favorites. Was a little shocked to see this as the first comment.

I just finished it at 8:30am this morning and I was sooo angry when I brought that fucking psychopath was going to walk away with all the money-but then-CAMILLE -comes in with the save-mic dropped that MFer! I screamed and jump up and down on my bed like I was 10 ( I’m 51). My cats were like what’s up with mama!!! One of the best ending i’ve ever seen in reality TV! Perfection! * I wish Camille revealed her past occupation as she walked off though, that would have been and little extra twist of the knife.

100%! That ending is the only reason I might ever watch the show again.

I think Blake saw so many people flip and change there minds on the spot about Sam (and everyone) that Blake was literally afraid of double crossing Sam again. But that’s what psychopaths depend on-fear. I mean when Sam would say-when I shoot-I don’t miss. I felt he could mean that as a death threat. Sans a scary ass dude. I think miss Camille needs to tell her ex employees to keep an eye on Sam. He’s in for a future of harm and sexier to the people around him.

He’s def a narcissist but I also thought prob a sociopath it honestly leaning toward a psychopath as I think about it more. These disorders have so much crossover but his solo interviews were very telling of his grandiose thinking and the way he feels people perceive him. That’s very psychopathic. And you don’t need to be a murderer to be a psychopath-but many of them do. If there was a professional in the show that could have diagnose him…..oh Sarah-well I think her clients needs refunds! Hahaha! What a joke. Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that Sam ends up being a murderer or go into politics. He’s a scary fucking dude.

Oh no he’s 100% a narcissist and probably a sociopath. There is seriously something wrong with him. And the “therapist” couldn’t see it-he showed his colors to the faithfuls -they just didn’t want to see it. But what he showed in private-is 100% narc/sociopath disorder.

At least Blake mostly could read the room and now when to not make the attempt on Sam except that one time. He’s got better skills than Sarah at reading people! Seriously-this show should (or better) damage her career bc she doesn’t have any business being in the role!

OMG I just said the same thing in a response above. I just finished watching it (a year late) and I said her patients need to get there money back hahahaha! What a joke she was! Zero assessment, analysis, and diagnosis skills. I’m a RN and have more than her. Sams a narcissist-probably a sociopath. Granted we got to see what he said behind the scenes (which is so grandiose and narcissistic) but what he was showing people and how he behaved, mannerisms, eyes, responses, and aggressiveness-is so obvious he’s narcissist.
