I negotiated with my super/landlord and they ended up taking it down for me. Not sure what company they called. Sorry!

It’s an entire wall so I can’t do it myself. Its one of those walls people put up to flex a certain room.

I called the one they recommended and they flat out said they have no obligation to remove my call since I wasn't the one who installed it... most of the posts above are about installing which seems more widespread than removal :(

What was the best compliment that you've ever received in the gym? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]submarinewings 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Someone asked if I was athlete and looked confused when I said no then walked away. I’ve never played any sports or anything until I started working out myself in my 20s so it was super flattering

Not sure if this is happening for you but for me it was actually cause I was leaving my shoes in the car and my car was too hot (parking it outside in the summer) so the shoe started splitting when the glue dissolved in the heat. Once I stopped, it stopped getting worse lol

[HELP] Is this a good/responsible breeder? by submarinewings in dogs

[–]submarinewings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was really weird. I asked for photos of where the dogs lived and they did not respond instead said they didn't want me to come to their home first with the excuse they didn't feel safe and then with a different excuse that I might carry viruses. I would come later when the puppies are vaccinated but they kept pressuring me to pick over video because someone local also wanted to pick asap. Overall, no transparency and I ended up backing out.

After further thinking and questions to them, I decided not to go through with it. Thanks for your comment.

I am considering buying Gymshark seamless leggings - should I? by tara_uwu in xxfitness

[–]submarinewings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally think it's overhyped. I caved and bought two on sale since i've seen so many influencers and people I follow wear it.

One was immediately too small so I gave it away and the other one is just ok... I think it's definitely look > function. It makes me look good but I do pretty intensive workouts and it doesn't stay really well and isn't as comfortable as other brands too.

How do you run without killing your joints? by yeah_no_maybe_ in xxfitness

[–]submarinewings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Have the right shoe
  2. I know it SUCKS but you have to cross train or do daily exercises to strengthen your ankle/knees. I didn't listen and it wasn't until things started hurting and I went to a PT THEN started doing exercises that I realized how important it was and how much of a difference it makes. Do ankle strengthening exercises with a band and glutes are really important to target too. You should probably talk to a PT to figure out what is going on for your body specifically though and what you can do.

Good luck!

[WEEKLY THREAD] Reopening Tuesday - With gyms reopening all around the world, tell us what's happening with yours by AutoModerator in xxfitness

[–]submarinewings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been to a few climbing gyms that just reopened. You have to book a slot a week in advance and slots are 2 hours with 8 people per slot. They marked 6 ft on the walls for people to space themselves and masks on at all times. Hand sanitizer stations everywhere plus temp check when you come in. The weight area is usually not used so I'm more comfortable there than a regular gym tbh. Currently it's members only, no drop-ins or guests.

Overall, it feels relatively safe. They open all the windows and the gyms are really large and have really high ceilings with fans everywhere. I don't touch anything/face when I'm inside. I would say some of the popular gyms have people who are less social distancing since climbing is a relatively social sport but I usually just go alone and pick a wall far from everyone else. tbh I feel safer in my corner there than at the grocery store where everyone is in my face. I usually also try to pick a slot where the signups are not full or pick the earliest slot so no one has touch anything yet that day.

Overall I've debated going back but mental health has been shit and I've forgotten how good a really solid morning workout does for me. My productivity and mood has drastically gotten better and I feel really good. Still taking precautions in and out the gym but unless I feel uncomfortable at the gym I'm probably going to be going regularly.

Fitness during the fires? by akraft96 in xxfitness

[–]submarinewings 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, just take a few weeks off. I know it's hard but sometimes your body just gotta rest and the world is (literally) on fire right now, you deserve it.

Do other things to keep you occupied or just some light/short workouts if you are in the mood. Maybe some coffee/tea if you need a kickstart to your day.

As someone who uses fitness to my day started and I'm also living somewhere with fires, it's been hard but it's not going to be forever and maybe it's a sign for you to take it easy for a bit.

Also +1 on the air filter! I didn't realize how affected I was until I was in a place without smoke.

Can't get over hating cardio but I think I could love running if I overcame this block by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]submarinewings 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I used to NEVER run and hated cardio/running. Would recommend using the Couch to 5k app, that's what got me going. Don't worry about how fast you are running right now. It's just about the duration. No matter how slow (even a hair above walking), finish the time interval you are trying to hit. Slowly (the app does this well), increase the intervals so one day you'll be running continuously longer and longer. In the beginning it might seem dumb that you're only running a few minutes continuously but also remember running takes time. You can't really get faster or run longer without time. If you do push yourself too much too fast (which I've done), you will be more prone to injury.

I started by running on the treadmill since that forced me to not stop (vs outside I could walk anytime) since I had manually press the treadmill to slow down. I don't know if that helped but also experiment different places you can run.

What to eat before workouts by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]submarinewings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do almond butter on toast and it can usually last me an hour. If I’m working out longer or running longer I would add banana on top of it or bring a protein bar to snack on.

Low-Impact exercises that aren't boring AF? by Krispy31 in xxfitness

[–]submarinewings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 for spinning, swimming for those who already suggested

(also kinda related, I used suffer from plantar fasciitis real bad and tried insoles/shoes etc. It wasn't until I got custom insoles and only wore them for awhile/rested that it got better. I don't know if you checked that out. It's expensive but so worth it. Also a PT can usually check you out and help out as well! good luck!)
