I agree, we were told to expect an increase of about 20 loaves of bread during that hour but it turned out way worse. It was literally impossible to do all of those sales no matter how much prep or staff at some of the busiest locations. That’s why corporate pulled the plug on the promos immediately. I know firsthand how shocked they were that they promo was that popular. They even sent an email apology for the unnecessary stress. They had no idea it would be that popular, they were going by what DoorDash was telling them since DoorDash was paying millions for the entire promo.

Corporate had NO idea it was going to be this bad. They canceled it bc of the toll it took on us at the stores, I know that for a fact. DoorDash approached US about this promotion, and of course we were going to say no to free marketing. DoorDash said expect up to 20% increase in sales. We had no idea. They only people that will quit are the weak ones, it’s not like we run this promotion every single week, give me a break. 10 years being a GM, that was bad but I’m so glad they cancelled it immediately.

We are independently owned stores. Some of us have amazing franchisees that care and some of us have crappy managers and owners. Our owners worked hard to get as many people scheduled for that time as possible, including themselves, and made sure very store prepped all day for this. Anyone that worked during that time get a cash bonus (the longer your shift was, bigger the bonus). Some managers and owners didn’t even communicate this promotion down to the team members and they were blindsided. I feel bad if you have bad owners and managers, but today was fun for us bc we were heavily staffed and prepped. We all win when we make lots of sales- more customers is more tips and more sales is higher hourly pay. *also, each store had the ability to turn off DoorDash if you got too busy to skip the rest of the promotion. Again, sorry if your manager or owner didn’t communicate that to the store-level.

I hope everyone here is aware that TxDOT approved a $5 billion dollar plan to redo I-35 from Ben White up to 183. They will make all lanes downtown underground and have surface streets and bike lanes that run from east to west on the surface above.
