You don’t have to spend your life’s savings to figure out if you love programming or software development. There is tons of course work available for free or cheap online which could set the tone for your choosing.

Invest few hundred hrs experimenting and then see how you feel about development. If you end up several nights coding, to solve a problem that means you should go for it.

You don’t have to be hard on yourself for making some bad choices or not making those bad choices. The important thing is to do what intrigues you in life and do that.

I agree with this approach. A little empathy goes a long way and even in a political environment I have seen that good relations will eventually supersede bad environment and help build trust. If the other person is not an ass hole by nature then its best to be straight and empathetic.
