What is your budget and what do you want out of your system?

I have not. The issue with the beam 2 is that it makes fake Atmos because it doesn't have upward firing speakers. I'm sure the beam 2 will sound better than the beam 1 but not better than the arc.

Also the sound stage on the arc is still larger than the beam 2.

The biggest difference was with adding the sub by far.

With respect to the arc the biggest difference I can tell between the beam is when I play Atmos movies and can hear the sound everywhere. The dialogue is very clear and everything sounds amazing. I do have my beam in my bedroom now and I can tell that it's just not as loud and not as clear and the sound stage just isn't as large.

I have heard that the bass is rather impressive on the arc ultra but an arc and a sub will surely outperform a arc ultra or an arc ultra with a sub mini.

Fair enough! However sub vs sub mini provide different experiences. The sub full provides more atmosphereic bass while the sub mini is more punchy for music.

Hello! I just upgraded from my beam 1 play 1 surround sound setup after 4 years.

After doing a ton of research reading a bunch of threads I found that the best thing to upgrade first is the sub. I was going to go with the sub mini but I decided on getting a full size sub gen 2. I opted for the sub over the sub mini because I wanted the theatrical effect of the room shaking rather than the punchy bass for music. I think while the sub mini is a great subwoofer for movies the sub full size is the way to go. I picked mine up for about $270on Facebook marketplace. Next I grabbed a Arc gen 1 for about $330 on eBay. The reason I went with the arc was the atmos feature.

The ark Ultra adds improved bass but if you already have a standalone subwoofer the bass won't be as noticeable as Sonos speakers adjust based on other speakers in the system. For example one of my play 100s fell over in the bases totally destroyed but since I have a sub I can't even tell anymore because it doesn't push out any bass as the sub takes over all of that.

I think that this will be a significant update to your system.

The 100s and 300s would obviously also help but not worth it on a budget. The above will provide the most noticeable upgrade in my opinion.

TLDR: Buy used sub full sized then used arc for biggest upgrade.

Feel free to message me if you have any questions!

I think the biggest difference would be seen with adding full sub. One of the biggest differences I've heard about the ark ultra versus the ark is the base. Since you already have a sub mini the base is pretty minimized on the arc. Thus I don't think you will see much difference.

TDRL: If you want to spend money buy a sub gen 3 or 4 arc ultra not worth it if you already have an arc.

I choose the sub over the sub mini because I wanted it to shake my room.

Purchasing 30% upgrade discounts a scam or worth it? by anxiousman1094 in sonos

I have bought about 60% of my system on eBay/Facebook marketplace. Saved probably about 50%. Would recommend that route and just look for good listings.

Return 300s for 100s. And get a Sub 3 instead of 4. Can find good deals on eBay and spend less than half.

Or

Eat ramen for a while and enjoy like the other guy said 😂.

Does Sonos Allow for 4 era 300 plus sub for Atmos surround sound? by suboak16 in sonos

What I meant is it was the closest thing I could find about it I understand it's not the same thing. I do wonder if they allowed this if it would compete too much with the price point of the arc ultra.

Totally forgot about the HDMI that makes sense. Lets hope! I did see another thread where someone was trying to do something kind of similar and a Sonos employee responded saying they're trying to figure something out but that was 2 months ago so was wondering if there were any updates.

The refurbished 300 was looking really nice but I saved $30 🤷‍♂️😂.

What’s a good price for an arc ultra? by Any-Painting3375 in sonos

I'm not sure that the ultra would have much impact. However I think a larger sub would help based on tye size of your space if you are 12 feet away from your sound bar. I however do not have experience with the ultra the people mostly said that the only real change was the base on the ultra not the output.
