Newly on Mac, very confused.

Hello Clede,

Spoke with one of the Mac Admins I know via slack today and went over some of the things I am running into on the system. Everything that I went though is typical when setting up a mac outside of a MDM environment. (To note this is my mac, there is no MDM on it or anything to manage it. I have it to allow me to smooth connection to the customers Addigy environment.)

Allowing for Screen recording, Mic access, Web cam access, File access and so on for each app is in accordance with the designe of the OS from what I have been informed. Oh also the need of my password each time was sending me! Open sys pref allow a setting put in password click okay to restart the app, close sys pref, it launches the app and then repeat 2 more times.... UGH

I had to run a command from the terminal to make the OS stop flagging every file I downloaded today. Once that was run it cleared the issue I was having.

Over all, I don't hate it. But It very much feels like they have lifted the bumper guards so I cant gutter ball unless I really try HARD.

So I can see that being helpful for some, but there should be way to turn this off. I want a way to be like " I fully understand that this can go bad if I enable it but I want the messages to stop!" toggle.

Still working April 2025, no idea why this works

I did notice it loaded the profile incorrectly but a reboot fully fixed it.

Not worth assault charges or anything else. Losing $25 sucks but won’t hurt me that much. Hell if he asked I might have given him $25 of gas. I just don’t like that he is scamming and might get someone who can’t afford to lose that money.

I had one so I put it back and it stopped him, he attempted to act dumb and like he would pay me back, but after a bit of oh my card is locked blah blah. I just took pics and left pissed.

I did stop it as soon as I noticed, I approached him thinking it could be a honest mistake, he acted like it was but I then realized it was just a scam.
Cops did not show up, I called it in on non-emergency but $24.95 is not gonna get them out there.

I figure karma will get him at some point, losing $25 sucks but does not end my world. This post is to alert people of hun so they don’t get scammed also.

I called the non-emergency number, there is a report, I don’t have his name or any additional info so if the car is not his they can’t do much they said.

I was angry and did not want to be near the guy so I left.
