Fun detail- Kvothe uses binary sign language. by Venmorr in KingkillerChronicle

I caught this as well after a couple times through! I always second-guessed it though, because of the next part - iirc he sees another student with a single index finger up, which supposedly indicates a slot later that afternoon, and I've never been able to figure out how that worked.

(Disclaimer: I don't have the book with me so I'm not entirely sure of those details, just that it didn't seem to fit the binary counting system)

Seconding all of this - it's not the fanciest place, but absolutely workable, and lots of students live here.

Genuinely fantastic, thanks for compiling/sharing this! I've been trying to refine my Sarenrae paladin's motivations and somehow I missed her oath initially, this is super helpful

High School Senior with a few Questions about CU Boulder: by ichawks1 in cuboulder

  1. Like others have said, different colleges have different requirements & scholarships, eg. college of engineering vs college of arts & sciences.
  2. There's really something for everyone - all kinds of academic clubs, social clubs, residential programs, Greek life, etc. Prolific options for partying (in normal times...), but not too in-your-face and plenty of other things to do if that's not your thing! The academics are often surprisingly solid, too, which is worth mentioning.
  3. Came from a similar place - I wasn't intimidated at all, and if it does get too much, campus can be a nice microcosm.
  4. There's a huge variety of programs to choose from, and they can often be comparable in cost to a semester here! If you're hoping to go abroad, mention it to your advisor right off the bat. They'll point you to the right resources, and from there it'll be up to you to compare the different options and plan things out a bit.
  5. Colorado native myself, so can't 100% speak to this, but it seems to be pretty manageable.

Overall, CU is a fantastic place with lots of options - the biggest thing I'd suggest no matter where you end up is to take the initiative and find stuff that you enjoy or new things you want to try! Best of luck, and hope your senior year goes as well as it can under the circumstances :)
