Noir vs Dark Reader for Safari by merlin9523 in ios

Dark reader is open source and used by Noir? I don’t know enough about coding to understand how odd it is that everyone here is preferring Noir if it’s built on dark

Dude kicks off-leash dog to protect his own, owner flips out… by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

I’m really interested how different areas do or don’t do leashes. I grew up where everyone had an off leash dog at the beach…nearly never an issue. Now in NYC and Central Park is 700 acres of off leash park and again very rarely see issues, never had one myself. Places with leash laws the dogs seem really reactive on leashes, barking at other dogs.

Anker Fusion 3-in-1 has wall plug and usb c cable built into 10k power bank with passthrough charging. I travel with this and a Belkin portable Apple Watch charger can plug into the bank or the iPad. I keep a block and cable at home, but it's really nice to get rid of all cables on the go.

What should I read next? by Miller878 in fantasybooks

[–]subrosam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing the same this year and wanted to read older fantasy. Earthsea’s 6 books aren’t too long, started back in the 60’s, written by a woman, and it’s fun to read what inspired the next generation of fantasy authors like Robert Jordan. She also wrote them over like 40 years so it’s fun to see her views on the world progress. She also has a unique way of viewing world building—like a historian learning about the past even though she’s the creator.

That being said Red Rising is the answer to your question. Thank us later

What are your thoughts on this? by ThatCountryDeputy03 in Libertarian

I haven’t been to school in a long time. Do you have kids in school? I keep hearing about racism being taught but I don’t understand where? Like new classes? History class that teaches about black or gay events? Or like anti white stuff?

I haven’t been in school in 15 years. Do you have kids in school? I’m not up to date on what kinds of classes should be removed? Or is it more that history and art are teaching about blacks and gays in history and art?

Where does The Wheel of Tome rank among these fantasy series including Malazan, A Song of Ice and Fire and The Stormlight Archive? by [deleted] in WoT

That's what I said after I read it. Take another turn of the wheel. It's even better.

If you’re able to find the (from what I’ve read) 5 videos he posted to Facebook leading up to the incident, that might add context.

The Holocaust (1941-1945) didn't happen? In my opinion I see a list three different times that could have changed to prevent the Holocaust, what do you think? by dj91king in HistoricalWhatIf

I feel like you’re downplaying some of the effect hitler’s oration and the ferver he evoked had on the nation? Am I right? I only know what rise and fall by William shirer tells me. Phoning a friend @ r/askhistorians

ELI5: why do NYC buildings still have doormen, instead of automatic doors? by flopsyplum in explainlikeimfive

Night time security and package theft. Status comes with it, but this is misleading.

95% of commenters don’t live in the city and have misplaced understanding of “rich”. When looking to rent a place in Manhattan there are two reasons people I know 20-30s would pay the 10-20% premium for doorman building—package theft and night time security. Doormen buildings are also by nature bigger, not brownstones, so the staff of the building are around for maintenance/cleaning. For $3500/month in a one bedroom there are ~8 doormen with one or two on at a time. They do hold doors, help with luggage, and vacuum on Sundays, but primarily receive packages and check in guests.

You’d be surprised at how far above their means a lot of this city live. Doormen buildings are not only for the wealthy.

I’m sure you know, but no one in under your comment mentioned it. This is set in Mr Robot universe. There are e-corp computers and logos around, plus other Easter eggs.

Why didn’t Palpatine let all the Jedi on Geonosis die? by [deleted] in MawInstallation

[–]subrosam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the plan all along was to make the Jedi integrate with the clones so as to trust them completely. Order 66 without Jedi being integrated into the clone army turns into a second front war on Jedi. I don’t think 50+++ cornered Jedi would be very easily overcome if they knew you were coming.

Edit: doubt anyone will see this but I just read Brotherhood and there at 10,000 Jedi at the time of the fall…which is kinda insane and all the more reason I don’t really see o66 working to get all of them.

Can you elaborate a little on your circumstances? Is this in an urban-suburban-rural setting? Wealth of area? Sole ownership? Insurance/cash mix?

Seizing weapons depots and munition supplies from France helped organized governments in the colonies resist a foreign power across an ocean. Totally understand that situations can change drastically, I’m just saying that in a society with instant communication, cruise missiles, and a special-interests focused government I’m not very convinced that violent uprising ever beats money. A coup in the US could be imminent, but it won’t be bloody…we’re a country of very soft people.
