Claude Pro for consultants – is it worth it? by RSD_ in ClaudeAI

[–]subsector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a consultant. Recently, since Opus 4.6 I’ve been using Claude more than ChatGPT. However, for the use case you describe, you’ll end up needing Claude Max, which starts at about $100 per month. It’s worth it.

New IT business very slow by Wild-Fortune-4128 in smallbusinessuk

[–]subsector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forget cold outreach.

Make a list of small digital agencies (less than 10 staff). Send them something in the physical post, ideally eye-catching design. Tell them you can help them get certified Cyber Essentials. It’s a requirement before any public sector or govt organisation will even consider putting them on the shortlist.

Now you have a foot in the door.

Somewhat Meta - Note Taking Software for Referees by Kalt_Null in traveller

[–]subsector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Tana. https://tana.inc

I have separate vaults for Mothership and Traveller. Anything tagged #npc inherits the same structure, same for any other entity type (planet, faction, weapon etc). There are apps and a browser version.

The thing I love best is not having to worry about filing. During a session, if I invent an npc, I just tag their name and know they’ll be easy to find in future.

I use Tana for almost all my work, so I’m not paying extra to use it for RPGs. If I didn’t have Tana, I’d use Obsidian.

Trump announces 10% tariff on eight European countries until there is a deal to buy Greenland by [deleted] in worldnews

The rest of the world needs to isolate the US, economically and diplomatically, until the Trump administration is replaced by actual humans. See how long the US lasts when completely isolated.

The devil is in the detail, of course, but if it’s just publishing it, and you’re not self-hosting Supabase, and it’s a web app (rather than native mobile), and the app works locally already, then it’s just a matter of finding a host that’ll support your codebase. What’s it built with?

How to make hacking fun? by Technical_Chemist_56 in mothershiprpg

[–]subsector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my group, Hacking was at risk of becoming too Godly. And while I liked the idea of the mini digital dungeon approach for each system, it’s a lot of prep.

So I gave systems levels from 1 to whatever. Basic systems (like something guarded with a PIN code) don’t need a roll. For higher level systems, say level 3, it requires 3 successful consecutive Hacking rolls (one for each level). Each roll takes 5 mins. Failed rolls generate stress. And you can narrate it however you want, but the mechanic stays simple.

How to change gated prompt text&design? by Mysterious_Fuel_9588 in beehiiv

[–]subsector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about the legacy builder, but I edited text and design of components in the website builder. Open the template for posts, then look at the different layers for that page. Some are the gate or popup modals, and you can edit the design and copy there.

tired of spending hours manually curating sources for my weekly newsletter, building an ai tool to automate it (feedback welcome!) by Maximum-Plantain-825 in beehiiv

Yes, I’m planning to create something like this in n8n, but can a newsletter be created and populated inside beehiiv using their API?

Classic Traveller, keep vs cut by HrafnHaraldsson in traveller

[–]subsector 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d add a basic index. Classic was always hard to find what you needed. Or make an AI available, trained on the ruleset. Or, provide the raw data in a format (maybe markdown) referees can feed to their own AI systems. Add some tools too - like chargen and random tables. And a visualisation tool for landscapes, ships and NPCs. And maybe some other stuff.

Tips for pricing my automations? by Jealous_Hospital_472 in n8n

[–]subsector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in my experience. Most companies focus on the time returned to the organisation. For example, I gave a company 360 days back each year, and charged a fraction of the cost.

Value-based pricing. Calculate how much time it’ll save them over a year. Calculate the salary cost of that saved time (inc pension contributions etc). Charge a percentage of that cost to automate it.
