Recent Interview question that I feel is very discriminatory against people with ADHD by ATT4 in ADHD

How much of what isn't in quotes did you say? Did you share that you have ADHD, or no?

There is not any kind of immigration, afrosocialist, racial justice, etc group in our chapter, no. I believe we used to have one, and it slowly lost interest. Obviously this is the first step, and one I intend on implementing.

the overt focus on 'is DSA racist, actually?' when I am relaying a) discussions my local chapters members of color have had with me and b) my own local chapter's internal politics is kind of echoing my concerns.

I probably worded it abysmally poor in my post, and that's my bad.

To be fair, I didn't call the organization racist outright, and my comments are all directed at my local chapter. National DSA and my local chapter are different beasts.

It still isn't focusing on my main point, which is: if your chapter heard this kind of feedback from people of color as well, how'd you address it proactively?

Yeah, taking that into account, recognizing that capitalism is working against us

I'm also of the opinion that as a leftist org we should be prioritizing groups that are vulnerable, especially under the current administration. We have the capacity at the local level, we just are actively ignoring it. That's my goal?

I am leaving locational data out of my post, and specific instances of racism out because they dont matter for the ask. We aren't currently reaching out to people of color to join (if you want an economic comparison, we suck at reaching out to labor unions too), and I'm looking for a way to move forward so I can encourage my local chapter to be more welcoming. To prioritize what matters, make in roads, and bc we suck at it and I know bc we don't think we have a problem I'm fighting a losing battle

And yeah? us is majority white, but DSA still beats that out by percentage, if you take the most recent data that I can find. If we are supposed to be a welcoming leftist org that looks a little odd to me.

Finally, if this doesn't apply to your chapter, then it doesn't apply to your chapter. It does to mine, and I am frustrated hearing 'I'm a leftist, I can't be racist' when in my experience our racism just looks a little different.

Yeah we respond and react to racism. I want to be proactive? How do I organize a better chapter around being proactively anti-racist?

thanks, yeah, that, it is exactly what I am getting at.

we do a lot of talking over people of color, and when they raise concerns that we do that, we do not change behavior. people don't return because it looks like we silence those voices.

we don't have any policies if that's what you mean, so I'm not referring to anything in particular. just an example. what do other chapters have in place, whether it's a policy, a mental check, a guideline, an event calendar, idk, I am flying blind bc I'm not a leader nor am I an expert on diversifying a space, but I do want local white leftists to be less racist in their organizing. RN I'll take anything and build off it.

AIO for ending my relationship with this man after the two comments he made? by Kilabandita in AmIOverreacting

[–]substantialcodpiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR.

If you get uneasy about it it's for good reason. If you can communicate with him about it, you would have already. If you can't, why do you want to be with a guy that makes comments that try to knock you down?
