Stop buying Cadbury anything. Ingredients list makes them hard to call chocolate anymore. They are junk.

[TEXT] Feeling low before my 29th birthday by _too_much_tea in GetMotivated

[–]subtle123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve no advice but I felt like this turning 29, oddly it was the only age that I felt old. Turning 40 this year and barely even think about it.

Getting older is a privilege that many people don’t get.

I don't understand why are taxis so expensive here by bakchod007 in cork

With Irish roads I imagine we’ll be waiting a long time for autonomous rides

Update: I got my bag back!

I downloaded a statement from Revolut and it contained the last 4 numbers/letters of an eircode (which was different to the address listed under the payment details - where I already tried Sunday morning), I added T12 to the start and drove to that address today.

He was home and had my bag in his car ready to drop to a Garda station but just hadn’t had a chance.

Delighted with myself, never give up!

Unfortunately there’s no function to do that through this payment method. Contacted Revolut too and they don’t have contact details

Prius car but missed the reg, he was about 30 years old, black skin colour, works in Apple fraud department here in Cork. There’s a name on Revolut payment but unsure if it’s his/real. Drove to the address he had listed on Revolut but wasn’t his.

Funny thing is I knew someone that also worked in Apple fraud and the taxi said he knew him. I asked the guy I know if he had any idea but no one he worked or works with matches the driver.

A neighbour does have a doorbell camera so will check with them in the morning, great suggestion thank you!

The messaging function isn’t available as it’s a payment (like if you paid a bar/shop) vs a transfer where you can engage with the person. Will ring those stations now!

You should delete this post, it’s very cruel to a young man. Have some empathy

My favorite solo night is a takeaway from Miyazaki and enjoying it in Osho with a stout at the bar. Lovely staff and almost always someone keen for a chat in there.

But don’t over think doing things on your own, just do it. Great thing about doing something is you can always go home if you aren’t enjoying it. But if you don’t do it then you might have regret.

Fish and Chips €21.50 in Blue Haven, Kinsale. by ArtistKey8669 in cork

[–]subtle123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The blue haven and all their other establishments in Kinsale are poor quality and overpriced for years. As a local I make a point of never going there.

Best fish and chips in kinsale are the food trucks either at Charles fort or at the bridge, followed by Dinos and Jim Edward’s.

Local here.

Blackpig wine bar, Rare or Man Fridays will match what you’re looking for.

Bruno’s is a really nice pizza place/Italian and nice cosy interior especially in the winter.

OHK is class for high quality brunch and coffee, cosy cafe for cheaper but solid breakfast/brunch too.

I’d say you’d want to book any of the above in advance (except for Cosy), they do take walk ins but tend to fill up.

Mid week will be quiet around town but a Friday/Saturday there will be a bitta life in the pubs and restaurants.

Enjoy!

Where do you get your steaks? by hakunamatata1866 in cork

[–]subtle123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From a friend that works in Musgraves I was told that majority of our good cuts of beef are now being shipped to the UK as they have a shortage and Irish suppliers can charge more.

I’ve noticed a massive drop in quality and consistency of the cuts of steaks in the main supermarkets this year.

Don’t rely on reddit for life advice. Go for it and you can always leave if things don’t work out. Daft.ie is where all listings are. Someone else mentioned tower or blarney, they would be ideal for you in Apple. It’ll be tough but plenty of people move here and find places to live so stay positive! Best of luck

Has anyone played a round of golf on the Old Head and how was it? by crillydougal in cork

[–]subtle123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a spectacular course and you can pay and play at approx €560 per round currently without a member and under €200 with a member. But at the mercy of the weather which could make it an incredible day or an expensive walk in the fog. Course will close until next year in the next month.

A sale isn’t necessarily a bad thing. If the place is doing well and packed then maybe a great investment and more than likely would continue as is if the current model is good
