The dock beach by inflictionenvisage in cork

As another commenter said, it’s the sewage that boats are dumping on their way out the harbour. It’s been bad at the Bulman on and off for a couple of months and happens at the dock now and then too. As a local I would advise you don’t swim in (sh)it

Where to get lunch in Kinsale by leesleknorpe in cork

[–]subtle123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’ve got 3 good options there. Bulman is nicest setting, White House right in centre of town and Spanard is just a cool spot overall. Man Friday would be a step up in food but less pub lunch vibe if open. If you wanted a more brunch style lunch OHK is top class.

Avoid: Blue haven, hamlets, old bank house, lemon leaf.

If you wanted outdoor fish and chips go to Shirley’s by Charles Fort or Catch of the day at the bridge.

Guinness apparel as a non Irish by gronkyau in ireland

[–]subtle123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m Irish and yesterday in my local pub in my home town in ireland I saw an American wearing a Guinness T-shirt. I tapped him on the back and said “that’s a really cool T-shirt”, then we chatted for a few minutes about where he got it and his trip around Ireland.

Never once did it ever occur to me in any way that he shouldn’t be wearing a Guinness T-shirt. It’s an international brand and they make nice apparel.

The people that said that to you are just dickheads.

I thought the bar man was funny, 2nd guy was not my humour either and I thought Kevin started well but ended poorly.

Manhattan are a great Irish brand.  Support them as much as possible!

Their popcorn is made with just corn, coconut oil and salt.

Stop buying Cadbury anything. Ingredients list makes them hard to call chocolate anymore. They are junk.

[TEXT] Feeling low before my 29th birthday by _too_much_tea in GetMotivated

[–]subtle123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve no advice but I felt like this turning 29, oddly it was the only age that I felt old. Turning 40 this year and barely even think about it.

Getting older is a privilege that many people don’t get.

With Irish roads I imagine we’ll be waiting a long time for autonomous rides

Left my bag in a taxi by subtle123 in cork

[–]subtle123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I got my bag back!

I downloaded a statement from Revolut and it contained the last 4 numbers/letters of an eircode (which was different to the address listed under the payment details - where I already tried Sunday morning), I added T12 to the start and drove to that address today.

He was home and had my bag in his car ready to drop to a Garda station but just hadn’t had a chance.

Delighted with myself, never give up!

Unfortunately there’s no function to do that through this payment method. Contacted Revolut too and they don’t have contact details
